I never said that no one has a right to boo! Of course, you have that right. And I have a right to my opinion which is that behavior is boorish and ignorant.
Booing the team you support is counter productive. It emboldens the opponent and more than likely has the opposite impact to the players it's directed towards.
dcr, you mentioned correcting your children - of course, but if you were to jeer at your child or repeatedly call them a ********, I don't think you would be accomplishing the impact you are hoping to get. A more proven child rearing technique is positive reinforcement.
Re: the restaurant, I'm not sure the analogy holds up, but...
In a restaurant, sure I'll let them know if there is something wrong with the meal. And the direct impact is that they attempt to remedy it. Or you could be getting a burger with a loogie on it! (Ever heard tales from restaurant kitchens?)
I don't believe there is ever any direct or indirect improvement to a sports team due to the crowds booing. When a team lays an egg, they know it (listen or read Adrian Wilson's comments from the last week, if you don't think so.) They don't play to suck! Booing simply demeans their efforts.
fball13 - your post is nothing but hyperbole.
Bottom line, if a franchise is continuously putting a bad product on the field that is a result of ownership. There is only one way to impact or get a message across to ownership - that's their bottom line!
