I feel like we could have received more for Miguel Montero. That said, I will be interested to see what they do for our starting catcher. Hopefully Tuffy is tagged to be the starting catcher for the season.

Holy **** hopefully not

Tuffy is a good kid, but not a Major League hitter, even for a Catcher.

Here are his D-backs stats.

YEAR....AB....BAVG.....OBP
2013.....45.... .178.... .174
2014...129.... .225.... .242

Imagine Tuffy and the Pitcher's spot back-to-back for most of our games.

I'm trying to figure out how his On Base Percent in 2013 can be lower than his Batting Average. It showed the same on two sites.

When you add walks and hit batsman, it has to be higher, because each of those adds an On-Base and an At-Bat. Theoretically, each occurrence adds a 1.000 average pro-rated to the batting average.

How could that lower the Batting Average to On Base Percent?

Do you guys have any idea? Thanks.

He must have had no walks and no hit by pitches and had one or two sacrifice flies or bunts. Since the sacrifice bunts/fly outs do not count as at bats. the batting average will be greater than the on base percentage.

anyways, enjoy miggy. he's a veteran lefty, who has been batting cleanup for the dbacks. he doesn't belong in the cleanup spot. move him down in the lineup and his numbers will improve. he's good behind the plate. can't throw down runners like he used to, but his skills behind the plate can't be questioned.

Discussing this trade is probably the last time we will hear the name Zach Godley.

Jefferson Mejia appears to be a big time prospect. If he develops then the D'backs have done more than get salary relief. If he doesn't, well they needed salary relief. This is life in the majors when you are not a big market team.

Miggy was cleanup???

Wow I did not know that. I like Miggy behind the plate but I am guessing Castillo blocks more pitches...throwing out runners Castillo is slightly better. Pitch framing Montero is waaaay better...he is a team leader and likely calls a good game.

Keep an eye on the Lester trade...if the Cubs get him there is a very good chance they acquire his personal catcher from BOS...if that happens Castillo will be available. Then maybe we can get Mejia back:D

This. Glad I'll never hear another "Miggy-style" commercial, and the team narc/snitch is gone. Finally, it seems this team has a plan for the future.
