Yeah, if Rosen is ready next year they can save even more if they do not pick up Bradford’s option. Does the $98M include the $25M hold for Bradford next year?

thats true. but we also only have about 20 guys under contract next year. That number will be smaller as we re sign some of our guys....should still have plenty to work with though

But I thought we couldn't afford Calais Campbell?

This is why smart people understand that cap space is funny money. When someone tells you they can't afford a player, it is really because they just don't want to pay him what he is asking for.

As second week of FA begins Cardinals have just less than $26 million of cap space but draft picks - assuming they hold onto No. 1 - will eat up around $12.5 million of that.

At the present time we have 39M available. Remember that we still need to deduct Garcia, Suggs, Sweeny and White contracts. Now with the Draft Picks you have to remember that we have right now 10 picks so that means that you deduct the players 41 thru 51 cost. IT wont be those players but you can do the math. I am thinking the total will be around 6 Mil.

The draft pick total $$$ will change.

I can imagine some picks being part of trades.

Doubt we're walking away from draft day with 10 bodies.

However, it may make little difference in final cost.

The draft pool for 10 is $12.5m at this point.

If I am reading correctly if Sweezey is cut in 2020, cap hit is $1.5 million. TSuggs has a cap hit for $2 million in 2020 (the contract is structured to have $5 million cap hit this year and $2 million next).....So the dead cap money is going to continue next year even for these small signings!

Does Keim like to dress up as wild west bounty hunter for Halloween? Keim sure likes to collect dead money!

At this point, next year's dead $$$ is virtually peanuts and the CAP goes up.

As they say on NFL radio ..."dead cap money is paying for the sins of the past"

K needs to do a better job evaluating and setting contracts. It makes no sense to have Suggs count 2 mill next year.

He's kicking the can down the road...with this team years and years away from being competitive...save the $ and accept what is and set up to be great in the future.

How did they some of the money spread to next year for Suggs on a one year deal?

It is written as voidable contract in year 2 to spread the cap hit per Cardinals twitter guy

Voidable 2nd year with small dead money hit.

I totally get that but why not make the second year at league minimum? That way you have even less of a dead money hit it?
