If Knight is only happy as a starter, he should not be a factor in roster construction going forward.

Let me put it this way. I do not see Knight being happy as a bench player especially with all the work he has put into rehab.

Previously he wanted to start because he thought he deserved it. He now may want to start because he thinks he has earned it.

The Suns need to keep a PG on speed dial.

He's been on record as being good with whatever role the Suns need from him. That's the reason for hope. If it's just empty talk, then he is not worth carrying on the roster, even given his contract.

This is what gives me some hope for him. He will likely start unless a relatively big trade is made that changes that. Hopefully the comments about being willing to do whatever is needed means that he can play a more refined role if he is the starter. That would begin with not trying to create for himself off the dribble a whole lot.

This is why I am going to be very reserved about Knight coming into the season.

Here is some news @BC867 and Suns fans can appreciate.

Kokoskov, meanwhile, already is complimenting Ayton’s skill-set – “his feel for the game, his passing skills,” – and he made one point abundantly clear.

“He’ll never be a power forward in this league,” Kokoskov said. “He’s going to be one of the most dominant centers in this league, and that’s how we’re going to build him.”

I'm getting excited by the Suns roster and Williams would be icing on the cake.

Maybe I'm trying to rationalize here, but with Igor's emphasis on creating scoring opportunities for players, perhaps a top PG will not be necessary in the Suns offense to get open looks.
Suns General Manager Ryan McDonough was wowed by Kokoskov’s offensive designs when he watched Slovenia win EuroBasket 2017. Opponents knew Kokoskov wanted guards Goran Dragic and Luka Doncic to get most of the scoring opportunities, McDonough said, and Kokoskov was still able to get them open looks.

“It was pretty impressive,” McDonough said. "The spacing and cutting and amount of different options available for each player. It was high level. It’s not often I watch something after having watched basketball for 15 years and not only see something impressive but innovate and different from what I’ve seen before. It was just a fountain of movement. Not many teams move like that, pass like that and cut that hard.

“When we were talking to people about him everybody was blown away by his basketball intellect and his creativity.”
