On that last drive, well last two drives for Pitt it seemed like Berry was hardly even trying. Just banging into his man then standing there. Wasn't sure if he was just trying to keep contain or just tired. Especially noticeable on the last play..

Just seeing what is up with that cause it wasn't just him. Maybe we need to put some high motor guys in at the end there.

I haven't got to re-watch the game yet, but I would speculate they the def line was tired. It takes a lot out of you just rushing the QB. And with them in the no huddle we couldn't sub

Yea, the line was gassed @ the end. There's no doubt about that.

I wouldn't doubt it if Berry were asked to contain either. I wouldn't ask Smith/Dockett/Watson to.

We noticed that, too. If he's so gassed he can't even pretend to make an effort, he shouldn't be in there, IMO.

Rewatching the game last night--

on the third and longs-- it seemed that two rushed, and two held contain--

Fathead escaped the full on rush a couple times earlier in the game to make, or almost make some big plays -- I think it was part of the planned defense

With the score in our favor he was told to contain. I've watched the game twice. Berry at at least one time contained, released and went across the field to be in on a play.

agreed. I was gonna say something about this affter the game, but I was so euphoric that I let it pass. If the dude's not gonna be fresh at the end of games, he can't be in there when we need the big play the most.

Man, he went downhill in a hurry. His first two years with us were so impressive and the last two (save the Bears game), he's just looked awful.

Speaking of "holding containment" what a big play Francisco made staying home on the end around and then making a good open field tackle. That was the kind of play that had killed the Cards earlier this season.

I think that set the tone for the defense for the rest of the afternoon.

Agreed. I can't remember the last time we have held an opposing team to a loss on an endaround play.

Berry was tired. He'd try an initial move and if it didn't work he ended upright and stationary. But he wasn't the only one. Those guys were on the field a TON the last 6 minutes of the game or so. I was sort of shocked that fresh legs weren't brought into the game late just to get those guys a blow.

Ha! I noticed the same thing on the last play. Berry just pops up...stands up and does nothing...then when his guy moves off, he makes a bit of a move towards Ben.

I think it was just what he was supposed to do though...we were in a deep cover zone, and he was supposed to stay where he was, contain if Ben tried to run and not let a pass come on the short side...didn't want to overpursue.

But I thought right away the same thing "boy that looks lazy!"
