Does anybody really think the Mavs are going to go 5-4 and the Suns run the table? I would hardly call that still alive.

Well, Suns just had a 6 game winning streak, with some wins against some very good teams. I don't think it's out of the question that we could run the table. Likely? No, of course it isn't.

Mavs still have to play the Heat, Suns, Hornets twice, Jazz, and the Rockets. I'd say it actually is likely that they lose 4 more games. If we could beat them, I would be shocked as hell if they didn't lose 3 other games.

I am still optimistic, but when you lose to the lowly Kings, that feeling has been shaken.

^That's the spirit.

Additionally, I was recently asked why I bother hoping the Suns squeak into the 8th spot as they would most assuredly get beaten. All it takes is for someone critical to the opponent <cough>Kobe</cough> to step off of the curb and break his ankle... Weird stuff happens and you have to be prepared for your chance. Giving up is for losers and that includes "fans".

While that loss was bad, it's easy to understand. It was their fourth game in five nights and third on the road following a tough tough overtime loss.

If Kobe were to tweak his ankle during a playoff series it would be nationally reported as a broken ankle and we'd have to endure an endless amount of sappy,"Wow,Kobe is really toughing it out" garbage as he limps up & down the court and still manages to pour in 40 points a night enroute to the SUNS inevitable demise.
NO THANKS.

They just had there longest streak of the season at 6. Prior to that it was 2. It is out of the question for both scenarios to come true. The Suns are done.

All that means is if we win 4 and dallas loses 4 it's a dead heat.

Is that so hard to find possible?

Well I guess we'll know after tonight then whether our season is over or not. If Miami loses then I guess it's OFFICiAL.

Nope, because then Dallas could lose the other NO game or we could beat NO.

But I will say, if Miami loses AND we lose tonight, then it's almost official.

The Dallas game is the ultimate indicator. Let us pray to the basketball gods that Dallas pulls a classic chokejob

didnt dallas just get howard back?

and we are out with amare, of course.

and LB could be back anytime soon.

i dont know how much a mavs team with howard will be improved.

well howard has not progressed this year....like prior seasons. but when healthy and playing passionately, howard can help the mavs win games. they are definitely much better with him than without him. especially when you consider they only have 2 reliable scorers in dirk and terry(from a consistency standpoint). dirk carried the mavs like usual tonight, but without howard they would have lost this game. Wade scored below his average as well. don't know if howard was guarding him or not...but that was probably more wade than anything else.

granted this will likely all be irrelevant anyway when dallas meets LA in the first round.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but I like Memphis' chances on Friday, they beat Dallas by 20 last time they played at home. Dallas will probably win, but it should at least be close like tonight. It just seems like every time we get help and Dallas loses, we lose. When we win, they win and that has to change for us to have a chance.

dallas should be ok in their home games. they are very good at home and usually only lose at home to teams that are just flat out better than them. but on the road they are very shaky against anyone. which kind of surprises me that they beat phx in the palace like they did....but any road game is like dropping dice.

miami had the lead from the third qtr til about midway through the fourth qtr when dirk hit a big shot to finally take the lead. then it was back and forth til the end and the mavs/dirk made their free throws.

Miami was ****in robbed with an offensive foul flop in the heat's last possession (which became 2nd to last possession. it was 100% a blocking foul

Cant count how many games dallas has won by 2 points with godly luck in the last minute of the game

me neither...but probably a couple of more than the suns have.

it seems like the mavs have played in a lot of blowout games this year...win or lose.

BTW that wasn't godly luck at all...heck that was most definitely a charge in nash's/ginobli's book! They play that style D on a daily basis and get away with it! When they do it it's good D not godly luck. soccer dudes at their finest. I'm glad J-Ho took a page out of their D and came back just in time to spare the mavs!
