WOW - that was one of the best pilots I've ever seen. Just watching the previews, I had ZERO interest in watching this show. Glen Close in a hard hitting lawyer show... yeah! But this is film noir, smart, slick, unbelievably well-written, good twists upon other twists. FX has done it again it seems like.

Between Sunday Night's HBO rollout of John From Cincinnati/Entourage/Conchords to Monday night's Showtime one-two punch of Weeds/Californication (read the pilot and it should be awesome) to Tuesday night FX's Damages to Wednesday night's FX Rescue Me to Thursday night's AMC Mad Men, the summer cable lineup so blows anything on network TV out of the water, during or after the summer, it's not even funny.

And that doesn't even include two of my other favorite shows (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia/Dexter) that I know start soon.

Was gonna dig up the thhread about Dexter. Dont have sshowtime, havent seen it, but LOVED the premise. Imma go see if the season 1 dvd is available yet. I was also thinking the same thing recently. There is a spate of cable programming out that is seriously pushing the networks. I was trying to think of weekly sit-coms and dramas that I watcch on network TV and well, Prison Break is the only one hanging on. And if they go any lower than last season, I'm outta there, too.

Gonna check out Mad Men, and Ill try Damages as well. Just what I need. more TV in my life!

EDIT: Dexter is in the netflix queue. Releases on the 21st of August. 4 disc set.

Wow, that was superb!

My wife called a few things, but other than that, it was very good, well-acted, well-written, and intense.

You know a show is good if they can make Ted Danson appear interesting.

I watched this last night. It was excellent and very intense. It was leaps and bounds better than all of the fall 2007 network pilots I've seen.

Great premiere! I will be watching this one for sure. I didnt call most of the twists, so I loved them as they hit. Great start! Close's character kind of reminds me of her character in Dangerous Liasons. Calculating, cunning, and will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Its gonna be a good show!

another great episode tonight. Man, they really do a good job of pulling you in all different directions with characters that go every which way. I mean, I literally don't know who the "villain" is supposed to be in this show, which is a testament to just how good the writing is.

I just watched the premiere last night and I'm hooked.
I'll probably watch the second episode tonight.
Great show.

It's a shame that apparently no one else is watching this. It's the best show on TV right now.

I dont know about best, but its WAY up there. Im loving this show. Lots of great twists and turns, some forseeable others total shocks. COnniving, dirty lawyer-y nastiness. Good stuff.

I agree...I'm watching the Conchords and Entourage, plus Rescue Me...and they are all great...but Damages is just as good.

The writing, the little twists...the evil...it's all good.

from the writing to the acting to the directing to the editing, there's nothing on TV right now that is just killing it like this show is. Not a lot of big twists tonight, but it's just a mesmerizing show on every level IMO.

It's amazing, but I really enjoy Ted Danson in this show...as bad as he's been since Cheers, he's really, REALLY evil here...his calm voice is just perfect. Great casting.

I love the entire cast really.

I completely agree. I actually think Danson's a great actor who just made some really bad career choices after Cheers. He was hilarious in every Curb episode he was in as Larry David's somewhat friend/somewhat nemesis.

He actuallly make Frobeshere empathetic while at the same time making him despicable. That's pretty damn impressive.
