Cardinal Ken,,,Good points. Uncle Chris might be from the Moonshine counties, and still trying to outrun the law in his '51 Hudson.

U/Chris.... Can you drive a car 200+mph? Do you even own a car that will go nearly 200mph? I have mostly doubt, and think you just can't stand his woman being in a race car,,,any race car.

Her bank account looks well,,,,,she's a racing team's advertising gold mine.
Andretti should have kept her at their Indy car team, and expanded the advertising $$$ coming in for them.. The sponsors she can generate are to date, basically un-tapped as far as the potential she can draw for a team. She can run 39th all season long in NASCAR, and Smoke is smart enough to keep her because he understands she generates advertisers and dollars coming in the door for support. She has 3 years left for the sun to shine on her talents, then she will depart for motherhood is my guess.

Until anyone posting here can put a lap down in the high 220's in a Indy car,,,,they should rest their testies in their jockstrap,,,,and remain in the pits with the rest of us. :D

Wow. Then just about every fan of every sport should shut up, I guess...

Try to make it misogyny if you like... it simply doesn't hold true. As a NASCAR driver, she's got the ego but not the results. The only reason she gets the media she does is because she's a nice looking female supposedly breaking the gender gap. You see Aric Almirola getting as much press as her? He's only 11 positions higher than her in the money winnings. Get it? And BTW, my "hero" in all of racing is Shirley Muldowney.

I wish I could remember which driver I saw that came on Letterman after winning a race. Dave asked him what he thought of Patrick in the event and he responded "was she in the race?" I suspect that most of the drivers feel that way since she garners so much unearned media.

Eh.... I am getting bored... she finished 20th and 23rd in her last 2 races and she's still 27th in the cup standings, with only 1 top 10 finish. Hardly the stuff of champions (or B racing movies. :D )

The fact that she's got "hot **********" written all over her is her skill. Not so much skill in her race car driving. ;)

She kept her car in one piece and finished the last two races.

Interested to see how her second time around Bristol goes on Sat.

About the same mediocrity as before.... Finished 26th and is still 27th in the points standings.....

I am not a huge fan or anything I just think she gets some irrational hatred, just as she gets some over hyped press attention.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/sha...-having-a-better-season-than-you-think-083013

DANICA IS HAVING A BETTER SEASON THAN YOU THINK

Danica Patrick opened the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup season by winning the pole in the Daytona 500 and finishing eighth in the biggest race of the season. By all accounts, it was a great start.

Since then, though, Patrick has struggled mightily to come to grips with her Sprint Cup car. She hasn't posted a single top 10 in her No. 10 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet since Daytona and usually finishes in the back half of the field.

While it's tempting to dismiss Patrick as a mere marketing gimmick - hello, Kyle Petty! - if you look at the numbers, they paint a very interesting picture. Coming into Sunday night's AdvoCare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Patrick has a career total of 34 Sprint Cup starts with an average finish of 26.6.

Sure, her average finish isn't great.

But when you compare it to the rookie seasons of other drivers who have moved to NASCAR from major open-wheel and sports-car series, suddenly, Patrick's numbers don't look bad. In fact, only Juan Pablo Montoya had a substantially better rookie season in Sprint Cup than Patrick did.

Here are the stats:

DANICA PATRICK, NASCAR Sprint Cup career to date - 34 starts, 0 wins, 0 top fives, 1 top 10, average finish, 26.6.

ANDY LALLY (2011) - 30 starts, 0 wins, 0 top fives, 0 tops 10s, average finish, 30.8.

SCOTT SPEED (2009) - 35 starts, 0 wins, 1 top five, 1 top 10, average finish, 29.0.

SAM HORNISH JR. (2008) - 34 starts, 0 wins, 0 top fives, 0 tops 10s, average finish, 29.6.

DARIO FRANCHITTI (2008) - 10 starts, 0 wins, 0 top fives, 0 tops 10s, average finish, 34.3.

JUAN PABLO MONTOYA(2007) - 36 starts, 1 victory, 3 top fives 6 top 10s, average finish, 22.7.

AJ ALLMENDINGER (2007) - 17 starts, 0 wins, 0 top fives, 0 tops 10s, average finish, 31.6.

CASEY MEARS (2003) - 36 starts, 0 wins, 0 top fives, 0 tops 10s, average finish, 30.0.

In Atlanta, she finished where she started... 21st, and still sits at 27th in the points standings.

The media is to blame for all the unwarranted press she receives, but her cockiness, egotism and false bravado are her own doing... and play a large part in the bad feelings toward her.

When Patrick wins 3 GFC's in racing, like Shirley Muldowney did, then she can crow and the press can go gaga. Till then, fugetaboutit.

I was there yesterday and tapped into her communications for a minute and she was pissed about how the car was driving. As for her in general, I really don't have a problem with her being in the circuit and she did spend a couple of seasons in Nationwide but she feels as though she's owed something. It's in the way she talks and acts that rubs me the wrong way. There have been other drivers who went from open wheel to NASCAR who didn't have that attitude, Janet Guthrie among them. Janet was twice the driver Danica is and she didn't have an attitude.

2b. She's not a "good ol' boy".

She isn't part of a family with NASCAR roots, and she's not from The South. While NASCAR has tried rebranding over the past decade to reach a more diverse demographic, but it's been a rough go changing the mentality that NASCAR is a sport for white red-neck men.

Just my two cents worth.

Disagree with this. NASCAR is no longer a good ol boy circuit. Jimmy Johnson is from California. Marcus Ambrose is from Tasmania. Martin and Ryan Truex are from NJ. I would say Johnson and Martin Truex, jr. are more than accepted.
