Karlos Dansby Profile

Arizona Cardinals LB Karlos Dansby has signed his one-year franchise tender, Scout.com has confirmed. The non-exclusive tender carries a one-year, guaranteed salary of $9.678 million.

I believe we have until june 15th to sign him to a long term deal. I may have just fabricated that information, however. Lets say, I'm 75% confident.

Pretty close. The cutoff is July 15. Actually, the deal has to be done by 11:59pm of July 14th. We might want caproom at that point to make Dockett happy. It would be nice if wilson and Boldin were taken care of long before that.

We need to extend Dansby sooner rather than later... if we cannot extend him before July 15th, the chances of him gone next year increase many fold.

Why? Didn't the hawks franchise W.Jones three times before finally agreeing on a long term contract?

I don't think you can franchise a player more than twice...

I don't think that is true.

Wasn't Walter Jones and Orlando Pace franchised some cazy number of times ?

Regardless this is great news. No matter what Dansby is a Cardinal next year, and by signing the tender has made his commitment to this team next year.

NOW GIVE HIM THE LONG TERM CONTRACT HE DESERVES!!!!

You can franchise a player as many times as you want. But when you do it for a 3rd time you now owe the player the franchise tender of the top 5 of the QB position, which is the highest tender possible, or 120% last years salary which ever is higher.

Cards wont be giving Dansby a 3rd franchise tender of 15 mill next year.

Question to the masses:
Does anyone else think the Cardinals should offer Dansby the exact same contract that Bart Scott just got from the Jets (6 years for $48 million)?

That's eight million per season and I think Dansby is a better player than Scott and he's nearly a full year younger. Anyone think that's fair and would it get the job done?

Sounds good to me.

Sign all the good guys. Only problem is we only have so much money and have to figure out who to give it to. That is one reason we need to trade Boldin for a high draft choice. Frees up some money. We have plenty of receivers and he wants out of here.

We may have $5M off the books with the release of Edge; Okeafor is on the last year of a contract costing over $5M... and next year will either be uncapped or a cap figure in the region of $130M....

This to say that... there may be reasons to trade Q, but not being able to afford him in our core of players is not one of them...
