Excellent pick. Some had him going in the first round. He was a standout at the senior bowl.

I was on record wanting Schweigert a Safety from Purdue
but I sensed so many Card fans wanted us to choose another DLineman.

I would ve still liked to seen

ESPN has him listed as the 33rd best overall player in the draft.

33. DT Darnell Dockett, Florida State (6-feet-3 3/8, 297 pounds): Physical specimen, good body mass, but could get even bigger. Naturally strong and explosive off the ball. When he hits the gap, he's getting through, and is going to wreak havoc. Excellent knee-bender, comes off low, makes himself difficult to block. Terrific motor and will chase the ball to the sideline. Can dominate for long stretches. Has played both inside and outside.

Even funnier - Dansby is listed right below him at 34th!

34. OLB Karlos Dansby, Auburn (6-feet-3¼, 251 pounds): Fluid defender with outstanding pursuit ability, can chase plays from just about anywhere on the field, very quick-footed. Looks best on plays run away from him. Great range, can get deep into the secondary and, as demonstrated by eight interceptions and 15 passes defensed, is a factor versus pass. Good blitzer and has enough explosiveness to beat tackles with first move.

I would guess deke pollard wanted this pick....

I would also speculate that someone in the organization asked Boldin about his former teammate...not sure if it works this way - but when you are building a team around a young all pro player (boldin) and he is one year out of college and played with a guy with character issues like Dockett..surely someone made a phone call to anquan..

I don't know what his personal problems were but the Dline is where we need help. Hopefully Berry can produce a pass rush and Dockett can help stuff the run. We now need to get Starks ready to play a full year

I am very happy with the first day of the draft.

I think its a great pick. Maybe one of the best "value" picks of the entire draft.

Dockett was slotted as a late first round pick on many mocks that I saw. I think hes someone who will come in and push and battle our existing DTs, specifically Wendell Bryant, for their starting jobs.

He's the best pass rushing DT in this draft. Did you notice they didn't start the clock for this pick? We had that card ready to go.
