Rumor around twitter is its about $11.5 mill per season... Holy...

If true, that's major dough lol. Love having him though!

If you look at pure straight numbers, without knowing structure, looks like a 11 mill per year deal.

Dockett got about 10 mill, and that was two years ago. So 11 mill seems about right.

Will be 26 in September, signed through his prime years.

This might not open up much cap space. With $36 million in the first three years, I don't see how he could cost much less than his $10.6 million franchise tag number this season.

Not that I'm complaining. Keeping CC was vital to the offseason. It would just go against the speculation about getting him signed to a long-term deal creating cap space.

Remember, any "bonus" money can be prorated over life of contract, thus lowering the Cap figure. The 36 Mil, will have bonus money baked in.

Good call. I was thinking the reported $36 million was his cap figure over the first three. It's been a long night.

Good signing by GM Fitzgerald. He got a deal done that was a long time coming. It is a good continuation in our pursuit to becoming a consistently good football team AND organization.

Excellent news - more proof that the Cards are taking care of their own and doing it in a way to benefit the team overall.

Bravo Mr. Graves - gotta give credit where credit is due

Am I the only one not crazy about this?

I mean, I love CC's play and he needed a new contract, but Fitz-type money to someone who has never made the pro-bowl?

Im with you, I like CC but one really good year and some ok years thats a lot of money to pay him. Thats a contract that may come back to bite them, I hope not and its an aggressive move by a beleaguered front office, but it may have been too aggressive.

The $55 million is actually not that bad as that is including the guaranteed money. Not to mention that there is going to be a large jump in salaries with the new TV money goes into effect

We gotta show we can pay kids on their way up, or it's back to the same old.

I agree that 55million is a little tough to stomach. CC in no way deserves that.

Like the guy, say what you want about him being a core dude, but for that much, we couldve went and found a much better core dude to replace him.

However, in the long run, this is majorly beneficial. It was pointed out how the last 4 guys the cards publicly said they would resign: Adub, Dock, Fitz and now CC, that shows (every player in the league) that the Cards pay up when they say they will.

Throwing money like this at CC and Fitz makes AZ an attractive place for FA's when, before, cheap-as-hell Bidwills drove everyone away with their tight purses.

I agree that we shouldnt worry. Cap will go up, as it always does. In 10 years, 10 mill will probably be the avg salary for avg players.

After seeing what Mario Williams got (after going on the IR 2 years in a row) if we had left CC franchised and he had a 2012 equal to his 2011 then 11 million a year would seem like a bargain.

No issue with the $55M total from this quarter; that's top level GUARD money in today's NFL.

Couldn't care less about the cap numbers as long as he wouldn't ruin it, which this contract doesn't ruin our cap. I care that we have one of the top three 3-4 DEs locked up and in his prime. Insanely good news for our defense.

I agree.

We had to tie him up and have proved too many times in the past how much harm can be done and how long it takes to reload the roster when letting out better players walk.

Worth every penny.

6'8" 300lbs Super-atheletic, game changers do not grow on trees.

We gotta show we can pay kids on their way up, or it's back to the same old.

+1.

Gotta be competitive in the front office to be competitive on the field.

Now instead of spending the next 4 drafts "replacing Campbell" the organization can look to other more needed positions to sure up.
