At first glance, that just sounds like a bargain. His agent could not do better than that?

$20 Million over 6 years with $12.5 million in bonus money?? Does seem low... No doubt come 2015, he'll be looking for a re-do....
Just for clarification, according to how I am reading it, the $20 million over 6 years is his salary and there are $12.5 million in bonuses (separate from annual salary). So, the total deal appears to be 6 years, $32.5 million. (not saying that isn't what you meant 82, just wanted to make sure it was clear)
Still seems like a bargain compared to what other young LBs have gotten, as K9 alluded to.
Question for our cap guru (joeshmo) -- what's the logic behind the 2.5M bonus now and the 10M option bonus next year. Why not give him the 10M now and take some of that cap hit this year? Seems like we had the available cap room to do so.
Wow, this is a good deal. DWash gets a nice pay raise and it fits into our CAP nicely.
Leaves room to extend Hyphen as well.
After the deal we will have about 3.5 mill in cap space left. Really not that much to work with to front load more of his contract. Especially if you consider that the Cards may want some more wiggle room for this years cap space to extend one or more other players and the usual injured player buffer.

That is the benefit of negotiating BEFORE you have to. You have a player securing his future today. Let's not forget, the team goes out on the bit of a limb should a player's career ends abrubtly.
It's a smart calculated move for both parties.
I thought it didn't matter with bonuses against cap. Since they are distributed evenly throughout the duration of the contractYeah, these are very good numbers --

Just a minor detail -- overall, the deal looks very good for us (and I'm sure he's not complaining about his money).

true. And ABSOLUTELY a great move. That kid is a great player and fits in with the stand-up character of the rest of the players. VERY cool dude, he will only positively impact this squadI'm not a cap guru or anything (joeshmo seems to know a lot more than me), but I think the original signing bonus is evenly distributed but not necessarily subsequent bonuses. Kolb's original $10M bonus was spread evenly, but not the $7M roster bonus (which was originally to all count against this year's cap - but ended up getting spread out, but not evenly, over the duration of the contract. All semantics though at this point - as this seems to be a universally applauded move!
Saving room for PP's inevitable ball buster.
You know regardless of how well he plays between now and his contract coming up, he'll be looking for Nnamdi Money. Really itll be due to reputation more than anything.
Hoping Adrian rubs off on him and he doesnt turn into Primetime personality wise.
Not to mention we need to start saving up for the eventual reloading of this Oline. Top to bottom. Maybe keep Lyle. But we're gonna have to Paaaaaay for some guys.
We have depth in Potter and Kelemete. Don't expect starting help at the OL in the next draft, and maybe two.
I'm high on Kelemete. I think this kid can be a force at Guard in a few years.
