If Cards cget a left tackle in FA would David Yankey from Stanford be a worthy pick at #20? That would be a upgrade over Colledge at OG and would give Cards solid interior O-Line along with whoever is signed for LT (Albert or Veldheer etc;).It just seems like a good chance to pick up top talent to upgrade inside. There are a lot of pass rushing OLBs that can be drafted in Rounds 2-4 and several TE options also.Since O-line was the teams biggest weakness why not take care of the problem early in the draft.I wouldn`t mind seeing Zack Martin and David Yankey in Cardinal uniforms next season. Also like Taylor Lewan.

Rumors are floating that he might be available in round 2. I wouldn't take him in round 1. Too many more impactful players. Dee Ford a better option, and same goes for Hageman or Donald. Plenty better options at #20 than to take any OG from this class.

I read somewhere that Dee Ford has run a 4.46 40 yard dash. Have you

heard that? WOW

I am leery about Stanford OL. Martin & DeCastro received a lot of love on this board but they haven't lived up to the hype.

As for Dee Ford, dude is listed at 6'2 240 so even if he is running a 4.46, that isn't overly impressive.

At #20, I hope its either Kyle Van Noy or Darqueze Dennard.

We don't need to take another guard in the first round and I also seriously doubt he will be the BPA.

Cards also have about 10-14 guys listed as LBs so does that mean another OLB isn`t needed? So upgrading the weakest point of the team (the O-line) is not needed?:bang:
Since rumors say Colledge will be cut does that leave Fanaika starting at RG.That sure doesn`t seem like that's a upgrade for the line.

Not in round 1 but certainly in round 2, decastro is very good and he got hurt starting his career that shouldn't be held against him. Martin is just a head case.

Definitely no to Yankey in round 1. Like metioned, there will be too many impactful players still on the board at 20 to take a guy like Yankey.

Also, I think the Cards are going to go with Cooper, Watford, and Fanaika as their OG's. If they adress the interior of the OL, I can't see it being prior to round 5.

I argue the opposite. Because they already have two young developmental OGs and a vet, the only way I see them taking an OG would be if they took one high and he would be a clear upgrade.

If the Cards take a lineman late it will probably be a swing player who can play OG and OT.

They're clearly not going to get an upgrade over Cooper. I guess alot depends on what they think of Watford and his upside.

Hes an all pro G, no team will waste him at T. Hes a G 100%

Yankey is very good, but he and Cyril are the Cooper vs Warmack of this years draft.

Our scheme is better suited for the athlete/finese guy (zone blocking)--> Cyril/Cooper

Yankey is a straight mauler and earth mover (power man) --> Yankey/Warmack

This, Yankey does not fit the mold it seems for the style of OL play that Arians runs :)

Twitter reports that David Yankey is a confirmed interview for the Cardinals at the combine.

DeCastro was hurt as a rookie, he played over 800 snaps last season and ESPN guys who cover that division said he's already the best RG in the division and looks like a future pro bowler. There was some talk his rookie year that he was struggling a bit physically before he got hurt, but that wasn't the case last season.

He's going to be a really good player, not as good as Cooper probably will be just not that level of athlete, but he's going to be good.

Hmmm...apparently Yankey has played OT, OG AND C at Stanford per the Twitter. That would make him a top consideration for our 2nd round pick as it makes t easier to find him a position.

It would be pretty hard to pass on Yankee if he's on the board at #52.

I would much rather go in a different direction at #20, if J.Gilbert, D.Denard or E.Ebron are on the board I pounce.

It would be a MAJOR upgrade to the OL to be able to add Yankey and Cooper at Guards and a new LT. We would be making a statement. If we did target Yankey though, I'd like to see a trade down to do it

My guess is Yankey would be a round 2 or trade down option, not the 20th player selected.
