Then Mayock, again, because it's one of HIS guys, said to disregard the time, look at the game tape, and how the later drafting teams were hoping he runs a slow 40 so they could get a shot at him.

Not directed at you but, when are people going to realize that Mayock is just as much a TV shill as Kiper and McShay? The only difference is McShay's draft forecasts beat Mayock's for 5 years running.

What forecasts are you talking about?

Mayock has very little interest in the mock world. He simply grades the skills and assigns them a round. I haven't noted any glaring errors in his approach and his draft day 'real time' projections are quite accurate.

In high school I ran a faster 40 than Manti Te'o.

Oh I agree, I was just listing what was said because he was the guy talking when it happened. Completely agree that he was discounting his slow time.

I too was a bit like WTF? But at least he wasn't a complete shill in that he said it confirmed what had been seen on tape in terms of him being slow. Though then he said that now that you see his time you can go back and see if this is the type of guy that fits your team. While Mayock won't say it, I think even he is starting to doubt Te'o.

But still pretty shill-y when he said that 4.82 timing is close to 4.75 and under he wanted him to run. Sort of.

When you saw a whole slew of bigger, stronger LB's, hell quite a few DL and OL running faster, 4.82 is pretty horrible. There was even a LB who had a 41 inch vertical.

I wonder what his 10 yard split was though because it LOOKED horrible.
Guys may not be getting bigger and bigger anymore, but the big guys are still getting faster and more athletic.

Guy's like Te'o seem to be too slow for even ILB in the NFL unless his sole responsibility is run pick up on 1st and 2nd downs and I don't think he's good enough at it. In other words he's a one trick pony and the trick isn't very good.

He's got a spot in the NFL for a few years, but I don't see him as a starter. Though there are times people that shouldn't start, do start for a couple of seasons, so perhaps he that happens to him.

Can LB's lift tomorrow? Because most did, but Te'o and a few other didn't. A concerning move if he chose not to.

At least with Boz it was Bo Jackson blowing him up.

Don't want to wish the guy a poor career, so I hope he proves me wrong, but in the NFL, he'll be facing the equivalent of an Alabama line every game, te's that can dust him, and QB's that can run right past him. At least he had a decent 3 cone drill (7.13) (top lb 6.71) and 20 yard shuttle (4.27) (top lb 4.18). A between the lines LB.
