Just let me know when his jersey goes on sale. I have been waiting a long time for Gay to become a Cardinal. I hope he chooses a good number.

My personnal preference at this is is either Shawntae Spencer or Marcus Trufant, but Gay or Bush are understandable and cheaper alterantives. I just hate putting too much faith in Toler, Jefferson and Mike Adams as none have shown they can be a consistent number 2 CB.
Spencer got a one year deal from Oakland.
I could be off base on this, I really like Toler he was the number 1 in camp before the injury and has IMO made alot of strides in coverage. Maybe I'm just seeing what I want, but I thought he was the biggest injury loss we had last year.
I think some fans forget with the emergence of Petersen. I guess one could argue losing Kolb was a big injury but I liked Skelton more.
I think Gay will be our next free agent signing. It just makes too much sense with him already knowing the system and Horton. He will compete with Toler for the other starting CB spot.
Agree. We were fortunate that Marshall was able to step in & also feel Jefferson (despite youthful growing pains) contributed to our defensive improvement. Hope we get Toler back 100% healthy.I'm sure any number of guys could be agrued like Kolb or Williams, but IMO Toler was the biggest I just feel he was ready to take the next step up before the injury. In the camp practices I watched he was always matched up against Fitz and had great coverage, he was by far the best DB on the field, and it wasn't even close.
I wondered why William Gay's name hadn't come up yet. He's one ex-Steeler I wouldn't mind on the team, as long as he's cheap. He knows the system, he showed a lot of improvement last year and he's better than any CB on our roster outside of PP.
Because he IS a former Steeler. We're only allowed to mention so many of them as possible free agents and we used up our quota in 2010.
Like the tradition with Guards the Cards have signed a former Steeler every year since CKW was hired:
Rodney Bailey in 2007
Haggans in 2008
McFadden in 2009
Faneca and Porter in 2010
Nick Eason 2011
Don't forget though that Denny Green started the tradition.
He brought in Oliver Ross in 2005 and Kendrick Clancy in 2006
TN has a ton of cap space and a need at CB now that Finnegan signed with the Rams. Unless he's really attached to Horton, I'd say they have the upper-hand.Jim Wyatt @jwyattsports One more scheduled visitor for the #Titans: Steelers CB William Gay is scheduled to visit team on Tuesday, according to sources
I'd be happy with thatI'd be happy with our corner situation if Gay signed here. He's not very big but knows the system and has good ball awareness unlike McFadden.
Lock up CC
Sign Gay
Sign Bell
Wide reciever @ #13
Draft at least two OL before the 6th round and develop them
Build defensive depth in the late rounds
If Kendall Wright is available that is, which he should be.

I find it hilarious that people want to make upgrading the WR corp a priority when we lack the ability to develop a QB because our offensive line is atrocious. Bell, Snyder and re-signing Brown does not solve our offensive line problems. DeCastro + AJ Jenkins in the 4th rnd > Kendall Wright + Phillip Blake in the 4th round.
