I don't see how DeCastro is going to help any when our Tackles are Levi Brown and Jeremy Bridges, Adam Snyder or D.J. Young. But that seems to be the Cards MO. Offensive line not working: Keep the same guys at Tackle and get new Guards.

At some point you have to start adding top talent, and DeCastro is a top talent. Having top OG play inside allows for tackles to play with more confidence and set better against outside speed. Essentially you don't see top OGs standing around while a stunt/blitzer gets throught the guard/tackle gap becaus ehe is looking inside. Top OGs are agile enough to check inside to help the OC, and then kick out to handle a twist stunt or blitzing backer. This is why Bushrod for the Saints is so effective. He has great OG play to his inside to allow him to set against speed and bull rushes outside.

Tracy Porter would be a great option. Better than Shawntae Spencer, who is terrible.

I like Gay.

Tracy Porter doesn't tackle which limits his ability to play the slot. Plus, he would never play in the same division as Marshawn Lynch as he doesn't want to get donkey punched again on national TV.

I liked Spencer's size and ability to possibly swing to S, and the same goes for Trufant. Though, at this point, I think Gay would be a good option to fill our need at the nickel back spot. However, the Cards seem to have a lot of interest in Leonard Johnson, CB out of Iowa St, who seems to be slow, but could be a candidate for a Marshall type role.

And those two Guards were 4th and 5th round draft picks. Meanwhile we have used a 2nd round pick and brought in 3, 4 now, Free Agents and still can't get it right. :bang:

You knew there had to be one.

I think I am about to go into my baseball mode. Football Cards are starting to depress me. Then again my Cubs look worse than the Cards since Theo Epstein came to town with Beenie Ball and let go our top hitters. The Cards and the Cubs? How on earth could I end up as a fan of these two teams? At least I have the Bulls and Blackhawks but I am not a hockey or basketball fan until the playoffs. The Cubs did finally get rid of the GM Jim Hendry. If only the Cards would wake up. Theo Epstein is sort of a strange guy. Has a good record but operates out of the box.

I hear you John but I have a wait & see attitude about both teams. I think both teams will do better than expected.

I find it hilarious that people want to make upgrading the WR corp a priority when we lack the ability to develop a QB because our offensive line is atrocious. Bell, Snyder and re-signing Brown does not solve our offensive line problems. DeCastro + AJ Jenkins in the 4th rnd > Kendall Wright + Phillip Blake in the 4th round.

DDC is #6 on my board, i think he'll be long gone so i'm not really considering him at #13. If he does drop then ya, you take him. Same with Reiff.

Free-agent CB William Gay (Steelers) posted on his official Twitter account that he is deciding between four teams. The Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans are each vying for his services.

If he's looking for a big payday, count out Arizona & Pittsburgh. If he's looking for comfort with coaches and the system, we may have a fighting chance. Guess we'll see shortly.

BTW, when is Demetrius Bell going to make his decision? Hope this isn't a reflection of how long it take him to get into his pass set.

A DeCastro BPA pick will help strengthen the franchise over the long haul, but probably won't have a significant impact on how we do in 2012.

Bypassing talent and drafting for need may help plug an essential hole in the boat and prevent us from sinking this upcoming season, but, when we look back on it 3 - 5 years from now, it may look more like a Band-Aid move.

The only ways we can get around this, I can imagine, would be to either sign a FA (D Bell or a magically healthy M McNeil) or somehow trade for one or pull a sleeper tackle or two out of our butts in the later rounds of the April draft.

That's true of most rookies, IMO.

Not only that, but I would argue that DeCastro is an immediate upgrade over any of our interior (or exterior, for that matter) linemen.

Tracy Porter to the Broncos, which presumably eliminates them from William Gay's choices. I'd like to see him here.
