Arizona will be getting Trumbo and a PTBNL for Skaggs and Eaton, who will be going to Chicago. The Angels will also acquire Hector Santiago from Chicago as part of the deal.

I will hold judgement until we hear who the prospect are. I do like Trumbo as a classic power hitter and always though Eaton has a low ceiling.

Both prospects are rule 5 eligible. This deal is beyond pathetic. We just traded a good pitching prospect and outfield prospect for Mark Reynolds.

Not even close

Renyolds averages 190 K's and hits with a career average of .218 while Trumbo averages 116 K's (less than Upton) with a .250 average. He scores run and he hits doubles and he is moving to a hitters friendly ball park, so all of his number will impove. Oh and his walk percentage has gotten better every year.

Again, he is a classic power hitter with still some upside. The more and more I think about it with Prado, Goldschmidt, Trumbo and Hill at the 2, 3, 4 and 5 that should be dangerous. No more Miggy hitting 4th or 5th!!!

KT has lost his freaking mind.

The bullpen was the 1,2,3 problem!!! What has he done there? Oh, he just traded away a promising young arm (again), which he was also dangling out there as trade bait for a potential ace (the TE from ND should not count but he does in KT's universe!!!).

This is a trash move by a desperate man. Yes we needed a bigger bat to protect Goldy, but did we have to give up on two youngsters to get one with a hole in it?

So who is hitting leadoff and where does Trumbo get penciled in?

With saving the money (not getting Choo) what pitcher is KT going after? If it ends up being Smarzdja I might kick a puppy.

This is what I would go with.

1.Gerardo Parra
2.Martin Prado
3.Paul Goldschmidt
4.Mark Trumbo
5.Aaron Hill
6.Miggy Montero
7.A.J. Pollock
8.Didi Gregorius

Trumbo is a below .800 OPS hitter, for a "slugger" that is pathetic. And I am not impressed by 54 walks in 620 at bats. He does not get on base, he does hot hit for average, he does not field. Home runs are nice but 30 is not exactly blowing anyones mind, you have to do SOMETHING else to be worth your salt.

By his career rates the guy is not even as good as Mark Reynolds. I cannot believe we just gave up one of the top minor league arms in baseball and a dude the Dbacks had been raving about as our center fielder of the future... for this.

I know I am the alleged king of hyperbole when it comes to things I disagree with, but KT is the worst damn GM in the league. An absolute embarrassment.

For those who like power, Hill, Goldschmidt and Trumbo likely will combine to hit for 90-100 homers between them.

You are seriously scewing the stats to try and make your point. He has played 3 full seasons (120, 153, 184 strikeouts) and Reynolds gets on base at a better clip than Trumbo.

I thought the Cubs wanted Skaggs. So if this deal killed that one, then maybe I'll reconsider how I feel about it.

The only think I mess up the the average K's since ESPN does a stupid think with it averages. He still average of 40 less a year than Renyolds. And as I said, Trumbo's walk rate has gotten better every year while Renyolds has never shown any improvement of any kind.

It is pointless to argue, you do not like it and I do. We will know who was right next year.

If we still make a run at Choo and go with this, then I think we're looking Solid.

1.Shin Soo Choo
2.Martin Prado
3.Paul Goldschmidt
4.Mark Trumbo
5.Aaron Hill
6.Miggy Montero
7.Gerrardo Parra
8.Didi Gregorius

I'm not feeling all that great about the SP rotation though ...

1- Corbin
2- Miley
3- Cahill
4- Bradley
5- Delgado

What to do with McCarthy?

I guess on the bright side he's only 27 and will be heading to a very hitter friendly ballpark

Anyone who thinks this provides legit protection for Goldschmidt is fooling themselves. No one is going to be afraid to pitch to an impatient hitter who's only threat is the 1/20 chance he hits a home run.

And seriously, what is the image this team is going for? Trumbo is the kind of hitter the team spent the last few years deliberately getting rid of.

It was one of the other, not both.

Also, I think we still move Cahill. There are some teams that will need SP and we still need BP help.
