Don't worry. The new GM will have sent him packing by then.
He is arb eligible this year and will probably make $4 to $4.5 mil this year.

You do realize 2014 happens in 22 days right?
Also, I think we still move Cahill. There are some teams that will need SP and we still need BP help.
if we move Cahill wouldn't we be forced into moving McCarthy into teh 5 spot NO THANK YOU.
There are a couple of other young arms in the system that will have make or break years this year.
Zeke Spruill
Andrew Chafin
Kevin Munson
Then there is also Josh Collmenter who could get another chance. I think that KT is still looking for another SP though.
But I agree, no to McCarthy.
I think Collmenter is too valuable as a long reliever, especially on a team likley to have two rookei SP's (Bradley & Sprill/Chafin/Munson)
I may be alone but I'm more disgusted that they traded Eaton than anything.
No I loved me some Eaton.

Both prospects are rule 5 eligible. This deal is beyond pathetic. We just traded a good pitching prospect and outfield prospect for Mark Reynolds.
Arizona also will reportedly receive two players to be named -- those names likely withheld because at least one of those players will be exposed in Thursday's Rule 5 draft.
As they say - Don't mistake activity for achievement.
Trumbo is a below .800 OPS hitter, for a "slugger" that is pathetic. And I am not impressed by 54 walks in 620 at bats. He does not get on base, he does hot hit for average, he does not field. Home runs are nice but 30 is not exactly blowing anyones mind, you have to do SOMETHING else to be worth your salt.
By his career rates the guy is not even as good as Mark Reynolds. I cannot believe we just gave up one of the top minor league arms in baseball and a dude the Dbacks had been raving about as our center fielder of the future... for this.
I know I am the alleged king of hyperbole when it comes to things I disagree with, but KT is the worst damn GM in the league. An absolute embarrassment.

Gambo on 620 is saying that Eaton was a bit spoiled and entitled and wasn't very liked in the locker room.
Anyone who thinks this provides legit protection for Goldschmidt is fooling themselves. No one is going to be afraid to pitch to an impatient hitter who's only threat is the 1/20 chance he hits a home run.
And seriously, what is the image this team is going for? Trumbo is the kind of hitter the team spent the last few years deliberately getting rid of.
I've just heard Gambo and then Jude LaCava both say on two different stations that they have had conversations with players in the clubhouse and they were both told that Eaton wasn't liked by his teammates. One player even said "well, the clubhouse just got better."
Both used the word "entitled" as how he was described by the players.
So maybe addition by subtraction?

I don't care about home runs. Home runs lead to many more unproductive popups, which somehow infect the whole lineup. As for the idea that he will hit "50 homeruns" next year in Chase. Trumbo's home run totals have not been held back by wall distance or think sea air, he is held back by his inability to put the ball in play.
The Diamondbacks' end of this leaves me at a total loss. They acquired a player they didn't need who doesn't fit their current roster and gave up two young, cheap, controllable assets on whom they seem to have completely soured in the past 10 months. Mark Trumbo is a very limited player overall -- he can only play first base and his huge raw power (at least a 70 on the 20-80) scale is mitigated by his inability to hit breaking stuff, resulting in chronic sub-.300 OBPs.
With Paul Goldschmidt kind of OK over there at first, Trumbo will have to play left field, which will bring back memories of Ryan Klesko for those of you old enough to remember that adventure; I can picture the Diamondbacks' front office sitting there at Salt River Fields in late March and wondering what the heck they've done. The minor leaguers coming to Arizona -- one from the Angels, reportedly fringy relief prospect AJ Schugel, and one from the White Sox -- don't matter enough to change the fact this is a net loss of value for the Diamondbacks.
There could be a ripple effect for Arizona, as now third baseman Matt Davidson becomes a surplus asset with Martin Prado likely moving from left field to third base.
Prado at LF? God can these guys at least do some research before they talk about Az teams.
He played 113 games at 3B and 30 at OF. Gee Keith where do you think he was playing next year?
