With the Dodgers and D-Backs simultaneously sucking it up, the Rockies have become relevant in the pennant chase as well....

I've had to clean out a lot of sailor speak (unfortunately being on the wrong end of a sweep will do that). Consider this the only friendly warning that will be given. Please read the ASFN rules, and note that getting around the language filter with misspellings or abbreviations will not be tolerated either.

Thanks for the info. I could not find a list but you did, so if you don't mind, could you please provide a link because I would like to see where he stands this year and compare it to pitchers in the last two years.

I'm not saying that Rauch was the perfect candidate for the job, but this is really making a mountain out of a molehill.

I politely disagree. The guy has thrown a lot of innings in the past 2-3 years and with the Diamondbacks in a playoff race, they need to give their key pitchers rest, and yesterday was a perfect time to do so. It was not necessary to pitch him.

Also, Rauch is going to be a key component in the bullpen for the next few years and I would hate to see him end up like Oscar Villarreal or Bobby Thigpen.
I had to eyeball it from the mlb.com league leaders list. That's fine that you disagree, I just don't see how pitching two days out of four (and now two days out of six) is such an issue for a guy like Rauch.

Its very unfortunate that the team has lost two series in a row considering that prior to that they had lost a grand total of one series over the span of an entire month, but such is the way of baseball. The Dbacks are fortunate that this hasn't caused them to slip in the standings. Use the off day well and get back on track for the Dodgers series.

They needed to take advantage because the Dodgers were playing at Philly and they could not capitalze. LA has an easier schedule in the month of September.

Our season will still come down to the 6 games against LA, and the 6 games against Colorado we have left.

Don't forget the games against the Cardinals. Those will be tough.

Not forgetting those - but win all four of the series above, the team should be in good shape.

One series at a time. Great news, the Dodgers lost again to Washington. Now we need the Giants to win tonight.

ANOTHER quality start by Randy thrown away. We should be a good 6 games in 1st right now.

BTW... Melivin in pond scum.... get rid of him. Mistake after mistake after mistake doesn't make you a mad scientist, it makes you an incompetent toad.

The Rockies may well walk away with the division..... While we numbly watch Clarabelle bumble along.....

Couldn't agree more. We have the worst manager.

Kind of a mixed bag, IMO. On the one hand, it is great that the division sucks but the DBacks are the "best" in the division. On the other hand, the DBacks brass are fooling themselves if they think this team is anywhere near a playoff contender. We do have three good to great pitchers. But we have 8 decent to bad hitters.

You don't give our players enough credit - we have some good hitters.

You are right, I should have said "good to bad". I think that the good hitters include Drew and Jackson and Dunn. I think Dunn is good because the walks balance the strikeouts. Hudson is a good hitter as well, but alas he is not with the team at the moment and may never be again. :( Snyder has improved over the course of the season and I would include him in the "good" group, I guess, but towards the bottom.

The rest of the bunch are just decent to bad, depending upon the game/week/month. I think Reynolds is a decent hitter who could be a great hitter if he learned patience. I just see no progess with him or Young at this point, which is sad to see. It seems like Upton is still struggling mightily against AAA pitching. Tracy was good-to-great for a couple of weeks after his return but has returned to poor for the last month. Ojeda, Burke, and Romero haven't played enough for consideration, although Ojeda seems to provide a decent spark now and then. Montero is okay, but again a small sample size.
