way to go reyonlds watching two pitches cross the middle of the plate than swinging at a high fastball at your head with bases loaded SOB
Apparently it isn't. Silly me.The DBacks NEED to go up 4 games tonight. It is too late in the season to p*** away games.
Its the second time Rauch has pitched in four days. Why is Melvin pitching Rauch? His arm is going to fall off. The game is out of hand and he is pitching Rauch. Bob Melvin is an incompetent moron.

63 innings so far puts him on pace for 77 for the full season, well below his last two years of 87 and 91 innings respectively. With Thursday off, it isn't exactly a big deal.Rauch has already pitched 63 innings this year and in his last 6 outings, he has given up eight runs. We all know he has thrown a lot of pitches in the last two years, so why not give the guy a rest, especially with a 12:30PM game tomorrow. Even Grace was questioning Melvin's decision. He is better off resting and trying to figure out what is wrong in practice than throwing meaningless pitches in a blowout game.

No big deal? The guy's arm is not made out of rubber. Melvin once again is mismanaging his pitchers and you are the one person that thinks it's not a big deal.
I went to the other Diamondback boards and not one person is agreeing with Rauch pitching tonight, especially with a day game tomorrow. Not only Grace but Sutton was shocked that Melvin had him in the game tonight.
I never thought someone would even come close to mismanaging a bullpen like Brenly did, but Melvin is right up there with him.
Thanks for completely ignoring the crux of my post, which was that he is on pace to be well below the amount that he has pitched over the last two seasons, despite your implication that 63 innings is somehow a large total for him. But what some random posters on another message board somewhere are saying is totally better than actually using facts.
You mean eighth inning guys pitch generally pitch more innings than closers? Shocking.I'm not ignoring it. 63 innings is a lot of innings for a reliever at this point in the season. He has pitched an extraodinary amount of innings the past two years and because he is on pace to pitch less this year means nothing because he is still on pace to pitch a high number of innings. He has pitched more innings this year than guys like Francisco Rodriguez, Rivera , Papelbon, Danks, Broxton and Scott Shields.
Wrong. Rauch isn't in the top ten. In fact, there are several guys who have already thrown 70+ innings as a reliever this season. Atlanta's Jeff Bennett has thrown 77.1 innings, or what Rauch is on pace to do in the entire season.I don't have a list of relievers with the most innings pitched but I would assume Rauch is in the top-10.
I'm not saying that Rauch was the perfect candidate for the job, but this is really making a mountain out of a molehill. My beef on this topic is Melvin pitching Rauch in a game where they had no shot at winning. Why pitch him when there is a day game the next day, especially with Randy pitching? Makes no sense whatsoever except in the mind of Bob Melvin.

Thanks for the info. I could not find a list but you did, so if you don't mind, could you please provide a link because I would like to see where he stands this year and compare it to pitchers in the last two years.

I politely disagree. The guy has thrown a lot of innings in the past 2-3 years and with the Diamondbacks in a playoff race, they need to give their key pitchers rest, and yesterday was a perfect time to do so. It was not necessary to pitch him.
Also, Rauch is going to be a key component in the bullpen for the next few years and I would hate to see him end up like Oscar Villarreal or Bobby Thigpen.
I didnt watch the whole post game show but did walsh find out if rauch asked to be put in the game to work on his stuff?
Just got back into town last night. I skip doing the series preview and they start to fall flat. Now that I'm back for the rest of the season, I will continue the tradition with the crucial next series.
Hopefully, Randy will get #295 today! Come on, offense, get him some support!
