On May 7, 2009, Stottlemyre was hired as the pitching coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks after Bryan Price, the former Diamondbacks pitching coach, resigned. He was released as pitching coach after the 2010 season, but remained in the D-backs' organization as a roving minor league pitching instructor. On December 2, 2013, he returned to the Diamondbacks' Major League staff as bullpen coach under manager Kirk Gibson.

Interesting that we are bringing someone back we fired. Maybe they like him because he knows the younger pitchers.

Hard to expect Harkey to deliver a steak dinner when you give him baloney.

Kind of feel bad for Harkey as no one could polish the turd we called a pitching staff this year. I mean our opening day starter was a run of the mill RP and you can't teach consistency which was the major flaw with our pitching staff.

Collmenter was the starter because statistically speaking, he was our best pitcher last year. It's the TLR way, you perform, you start, you don't, I pull you. It's an open competition. It's why Bradley won a spot early, instead of delaying $. The message is clear. You deliver, you will play.

The point is if Collmenter was/is your best pitcher then that doesn't say much for your rotation. He may be the only Opening Day SP to end up in the bullpen the same year.

I didn't like Harkey's demeanor when he went to the mound. It looked arrogant. And I didn't like the nonchalance of his interviews.

I am glad the D-backs acted quickly. It tells our (weak) pitching staff that they deserved better leadership.

Whether Kirk Gibson, Matt Williams (also just fired) or Mike Harkey, personality is indeed a part of leadership. The three of them have proven that.

I would expect Tony La Russa and Dave Duncan will make a wise choice. And someone with more experience than bullpen coach.

P.S.: The quickness of Harkey's termination supports the D-backs disappointment in him.

Stottlemyre will not be back as the bullpen coach. He will be leaving for Seattle.

Most likely a job with Seattle.

Dbacks have begun interviews.

So much for him taking the job, lol.

I think it's good, get some fresh personalities and ideas in there.

With all the young talent here they really need to knock it out of the park with this signing.

Along with a good pitching coach signing, the Dbacks need to go out and find a true #1 starter. Not sure Corbin is a true #1. More like a #2
