Report: Randal Grichuk declines option with Diamondbacks
Randal Grichuk declined his $6 million mutual option with the Diamondbacks, entering free agency on the first day of the offseason.

Losing Walker/Grichuk/Peterson in the same offseason would be a big problem.![]()

Report: Jordan Montgomery accepts player option with Diamondbacks
Starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery has picked up his $22.5 million player option to return to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2025.arizonasports.com
Now just fix the A/C so he stops cramping up.
Monty just needs to be long relief/fill-in starter...and that's it. It should NOT be part of the regular 5 man rotation. The DBacks should "just say NO" to any more castoffs from St. Louis. Goldschmidt is toast, Arenado is toast, and we see how Montgomery performed (he was toast in St. Louis a couple of seasons ago, and got lucky in Texas). Montgomery should be traded (although his value is at an all time low) or we'll suffer through his 5+ or 6+ ERA as a SP in 2025. In the business world, it is called "sunk cost". Yes, the DBacks GM way overpaid for Montgomery. He needs to suck it up, trade the bum, and take the loss.
