So ends one of the worst front office tenures that I can ever remember. Sure the record might not indicate such, but considering where the team was set to go back in 2011... and where they've ended up... it takes a level of negligence that seems criminal. He should have been fired a year ago... hell, he should never have been hired in the first place.

Let the healing begin... hope whoever gets the job next knows how to put out a large dumpster fire.

Ruined the franchise. Big words but look at what we have playing. Time to start the rebuild process.

I would love to see the people who defended Towers and his trades the past few years defend him now. This says it all:

Towers' tenure has been marked by a slew of trades and player personnel moves that left many in the game scratching their heads. His most significant trade, the deal that sent outfielder Justin Upton to the Atlanta Braves, was widely questioned when it was made in January 2013 and looks lopsided nearly two seasons later.

The Diamondbacks traded away a slew of starting pitchers over the past two seasons, including right-handers Ian Kennedy, Trevor Bauer and Jarrod Parker and left-hander Tyler Skaggs. Meanwhile, many of the players they received in return have not lived up to expectations.

Congratulations to Tony La Russa and Ken Kendricks for doing the right thing.

Not just for the day-to-day decisions. But conceptually.

When La Russa and a new GM clean house of the Manager and most of the coaching staff, the D-backs can start fresh and rebuild for the future.

This came a little over a year too late. He's gutted the team of nearly all its talent. I guess he kept Bradley... still he was really really terrible.

Per 98.7, not quite fired, but offered a different position in the organization.

Looks like he already took the new job and he does not look happy.

Which organization? The rumor was that he would be become for San Diego what Tony La Russa is for the D-backs.

Kevin Towers would be one former D-back whom we would love to see stay in the Division. Maybe he could take his skills to the Giants, Dodgers and Rockies as well. :)

Everything so far, Kevin Towers is waiting to see who the new GM is before deciding to stay. All breaking news so who knows.

Sounds like DBacks don't want to pay him for the years left on his contract and make him resign. They will probably come to an agreement on payout. He is not going to stay with the organization with a new GM over him.

So... They followed up Josh Byrnes with Towers? Who is worse?

Terrible.

Just offer him a position as a lowly scout, make him be on the road 250 days a year, and let the grind take care of the rest.

Will dive into this later, but do want to point out that a player Towers traded for outpitched Kennedy by a wide margin last night:

Delgado: 5 IP, 2 Hits, 0 BB, 0 ER
Kennedy: 5.1 IP, 10 Hits, 2 BB, 4 ER

:D:D:D

That would sound a lot better IF he traded Kennedy FOR Delgado.

I know you were joking.

And next I'm betting they let La Russa hand pick his daughter's ******** husband. Is anybody else worried about La Russa loading the team up with his All-MLB pre-retirement crew?

I'm imagining a Buddy Ball scenario.

I doubt he will go nepotism but I do think there is a good chance he will dip into the Cardinals organization.

If I were to place wager on it I'd go with Gary LaRocque, their top scout/player development guy.
