Consdiering he'd likely be the best starting pitcher available via trade this deadline and his contract for 2007 is very affordable, I'm guessing it would take two of our Top 10 prospects and and a marginal player already in the bigs.

Montero, Young and Clark

I think the D'backs promoted Montero to showcase him for trade

You think the Tribe would want Montero and Young even with Victor Martinez and Grady Sizemore? And I can't imagine any team looking to trade for Tony Clark at this point and his no-trade clause isn't going to help sending him to Cleveland. I was thinking Garret Mock, Cruz/Enr.Gonzalez, and Carlos Gonzalez.

I do agree about us showcasing Montero although at this point I'd prefer the team show cautious aggression like last year or just be a seller.

Considering that we'd have the option to keep him next year and he wouldn't necessarily be a rent a player, I'd consider trading Montero, D'Antona and mabey a pitcher like Greg Smith, who dominated Lancaster but has struggled a bit at Tennessee.

I don't think Byrnes would consider trading Young.

Mabey I'm undervaluing Westbrook, but I wouldn't move any of these guys to get him: Drew, Young, CQ, Mock, Ohlendorf, Gonzalez or Owings, mabey even Reynolds

I didn't think of the logistics, just players I wouldn't mind seeing go :|

I am not in favor of trading Young at all. I think he'd be a great player. I'd rather sign one of the FA's this off-season or give something else. If it was for an ace I'd give up Young in a package but not there.

I'd rather see the DBacks stand pat with their young talent this season rather than trade it for a pitcher. Yes, they are in the race. But I think the "race" is to win a weak division and get bounced in the first round.

I could definately see a Hairston, Mock, Cruz/Enrq Gonzalez trade for Westbrook. I think that would be about an even deal. Indians get a pretty decent pitching prospect in AA, a filler starting pitcher to take Westbrook's place and Hairston who could mash in their line-up while filling in at Left Field.

But I agree that not only would I rather see the D'Backs be sellers and let the young talent play.

I'd rather they stand completely pat, aside from trying to unload Gonzo or Green. Don't trade for anyone.

Byrnes should be listening to offers on a lot of guys - Green, Gonzo, Clark, Counsell, Byrnes, DaVanon, Batista, Vargas, Julio, and Hudson just to name a few.

Agreed. I was just listing a few.

Although, if possible, I'd like to keep Byrnes, Julio, and even Hudson.

I do not think that this club will be keeping Byrnes unless we can deal both Green and Gonzalez. My logic behind this is that Young will be ready to take over CF next year and Q will be in RF. If we are able to unload Green then maybe we could resign Byrnes to be our LF but I still do not know if we can get rid of that huge contract.

So, Eric might have alot of trade value because there are a number of teams who need a CF (namely the White Sox).

Byrnes is the one guy (veteran) on this team that I would like to keep for several more years. He has played great, hustles - Young guys always need to see that. It is also a good idea to convince Counsel to stay on a year or two more for the same reason, although he would be a utility backup.

LOL and I just read that Indian fans wanted Q/Young, Montero, and a pitching prospect for Westbrook. Maybe his 3 2/3 innings last night while giving up 12 hits and 7 runs (5 earned) would place them back in reality.

Too funny!!! Just shows how dillusional some fans can get. Sure, we'd trade 3 top-15 prospects for a completely average pitcher...... Byrnes wouldn't package those 3 for anyone let alone Jake freakin Westbrook
