If Vinny Castilla could pretend every team he played was the DBacks, he'd win the triple crown and be the league MVP. I can't recall another slightly above average slugger like Castilla own a team like he owns the DBacks.

Gonzo with a home run after Tererro and Cintron got hits. I hope Cintron starts tomorrow for either Clayton or Council.

I considered the trade of Patterson for Randy Choate to be one of the stupider moves made by Joe Jr. If he hadn't traded JPatt, he could have used him instead of Caisey Daigle to start the year.

One pitcher is always injured to start the season. Book it. There was no need to trade him, and for a dreadful lefty specialist, ugh, ugh.

Patterson really didn't get a lot of a chance with Arizona. Young pitchers are notoriously inconsistent. If you trade them too soon when they are struggling for little value, it often comes back to bite you.

How do you propose to start the year with an injured pitcher?

If you think he meant to hit him you are joking yourself. It was meant to be an inside pitch, and there wasn't any malicious intent behind it.

I wouldn't call it malicious, but he was trying to hit him. No question about it in my mind.

Halsey is pitching a great game. I hope we can extend this lead or keep them from scoring.

3-1 Dbacks in the 7th

Gosling relieves Koplove, and promptly gives the Nats two more runs....7-3 Washington.

scratch that... 6 runs in the 7th

7-3 Nationals with runners on the corners still

This is getting absolutely ridiculous - this pattern of playing awesome for 6 innings and then having a complete meltdown and forking over countless runs in the last 3 innings.

Our Relief sucks. Our best two are injured.

Start the year with Patterson. He didn't need to be moved in early spring training because of a lack of a roster spot. Usually at least one pitcher starts the year on the DL. Last year it was Shane Reynolds. So Patterson could have stayed on the roster. He was only in danger of being lost in Joe Jr's addled brain.

Did not get to see the game, just got home after my girlfriend went to the hospital early this morning to have her appendix taken out. From looking at the box score, it looks like Koplove got roughed up. Did he look as bad as his stats? Hopefully they can feast on the Rockies tomorrow.

His control was definitly off. Walking 3 batters one of which intentional

Get used to it. Until we trade for decent middle relief, we will continue to blow these games in the 7th and 8th. At least Lyon has looked good so far in closing out the games if we can get it to him.

When i watched the meltdown during Saturdays game, i just sat back and thought, "How many of these until management realizes we need MRP?"

Until Joe Jr. and Melvin finally figure out that Koplove is a situational RH pitcher and not a set-up guy the bullpen will never be set. Lefties simply tee off on the guy and for some ungodly reason the front office still lets him pitch against them.
