Rain Delay. How long until they just call this game? Travel day. Big lead. Bottom 7. I bet we don't finish this one in 9. I actually hope we don't. A wet field can cause all sorts of injuries and this game is all but done.

I'll be the first to admit I am wrong if they pull out of this tailspin but, I have been a fan of baseball probably longer than you have been alive. I am 52 and have seen major choke jobs and believe me this is one going down. There is no dominant player on this team that can pull them up by the bootstraps such as Colorado's Todd Helton, or San Diego with Peavey and Hoffman and Maddux, and Gonzalez. Philadelphia has Rollins and Howard.

The guys who need to show are choking on their own bile like Burns, Snyder, and even Tony Clark to some extent. You can see the pressing and the stress in their eyes. This team is flatlining and as much as I hate that it isn't deniable. I saw this at the last home game starting to happen. The DBacks have been lifeless in their last 3 games. The rally in game 2 of this series should have been a momentum builder and instead did nothing. I am praying this team can hit today and give Webbie a win. If we get it today we will need at least 1 win in Colorado to clinch the wildcard because we will get at least one game's help from one of the contenders for the wild card.

My post doesn't mean I am not a huge DBacks fan. I will root for them to the bitter end, but I don't believe Melvin is a genius and I believe he lacks the fire to get these guys out of this funk.

I think you can see that in their eyes because you're looking for it. I don't see that at all, but again, I'm not wanting to see it like you are. The Snakes are kicking the Pirates teeth in right now, and have Webb going against the Rockies tomorrow, so its far from over.

I know this team doesn't have that superstar player/leader like most teams do, but we've known that for the entire season and it hasn't been much of a problem yet.

EDIT: Well they ended up winning. The Rockies have got to cool off at some point (I hope), lets hope it starts tomorrow.

Great win. I listened to it on the radio. Now let's hope the Padres, Rockies and Phillies lose tonight.:)

with the way this team goes, you know it's gonna come down to the last day. they seem to play very well when there's HUGE pressure on them to do so, but kind of flounder otherwise.

nice W boys! Try to make it a LITTLE easy on yourselves and take care of business tomorrow! But keep on keeping on!

We can eliminate the Rockies from the Division Race tomorrow. That would put us at 90 wins and they could only cap out at 89. Then we just have to see how the Padres finish out. Keep winning and none of the scenarios matter.

I remember someone pointing that out a week or 2 ago and I thought, "That's true. And we'll be playing somebody with nothing to play for."

Oops.

Believe me I'm in the DBack camp

Since I criticize Melvin when he screws up I'll compliment him when he does well. The move to start Owings and save Webb for the Rockies was masterful. The guys did what they had to do today and could have been in the drivers seat had they won this series. I did not want this to come down to having to win in Colorado because it will be nuts in their house and very difficult. I'll be rooting for the DBacks to get it done.

Good work, Melvin.
