Gallen is a beast right now....against mlb batters. He was what ? 9-1 in triple a? Let the kid pitch some before you kill him.

Yes, he has had success for a couple months in the PCL. That doesn't change the fact he is one decent pitch.

He is still + Defense + Arm + Power at SS despite his high K rate right now.

You don't sell off your top prospect for mediocre trash because of 3 down months in his journey. It is asinine
Gallen is not mediocre trash

And where would Swanson play (I didn't like the trade either) - Ahmed is better than Swanson

On this current team? He is probably playing 2nd. Hard to play the what if 4 years later so you have to judge what you traded and what you got.

Chisolm in my opinion was overrated. We have a lot of solid SS options moving forward. Kristian Robinson is actually our best prospect in my view. seems the dbacks now are in a position to still compete next year whether they trade some mlb ready guys that we now have or spend some salary on. Hard say for me mentally but overall a good one

Zac Gallen has been great in the majors, he is 23 and has 6 years of club control. Even if he is "only" a #3 or 4 starter then Jazz would have to significantly improve his projection for this trade to be one to sweat.

IMO, Hazen just sold high on an overrated prospect. Jazz's numbers in A ball we're not exactly electrifying and he's had a disastrous season in AA.

100% correct. We gave up our #1 prospect and our #1 pitcher and got...depth. And people are happy with it????

Our #1 prospect who plays a position that is locked up by one of the best defensive SS's in the game, and who continues to improve at the plate each year, and who netted us a 23 year-old starter with 7 starts and a 2.72 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP.

And you don't seriously believe we were better off carrying Greinke for the next 2+ seasons, do you???

No but we traded for Leake to cover for Greinke. I look forward to revisiting this in 2 years.

He won't exactly be covering for our #1 starter. But Robbie Ray needs to
learn how to keep his pitch count under control and be our #1 starter.

He and the coaching staff need to find the happy medium between
strikeouts and being able to pitch seven innings.

But, as I understand, we are paying a small portion of Leake's contract and gave up next to nothing in prospects to get him. While we got 3 highly rated prospects for Greinke and are paying like a 3rd of what he is owed.

I am good with the Greinke trade. I don't like this trade.

Greinke is due roughly $77 million over the next 2+ seasons. The Dbacks are picking up $24 million of that, or essentially $8 million per.
I think it's going to be VERY interesting and fun to see what Hazen does now that he actually has some money to play with! Extend Ray maybe? Ahmed? Sign a big FA or two?? We'll soon see!
