Quentin's battin 7th in tonights game, Drew 8th. 5/9 of our lineup are drafted Dbacks (Tracy, Webb, CoJack, Q, Drew). This is gonna be awesome!

Time to fire up the DVR. I haven't done that for a game since basketball season. I might really start getting into this baseball season now.

I was just watching channel 3 and their sports anchor was talking about Q making his debut. He made a point of saying Gonzo is not happy with the situation and that he wouldn't comment to the media... Not that it's a surprise Gonzo is unhappy but thought it was interesting. The timing of this is very weird, almost like Byrnes is days away from trading Gonzo. I pray to God that he's not showcasing Quentin before the deadline as I would find that very hard to believe. Gonzo is known as an everyday player and rarely gets days off so I don't buy the "we're just giving him some rest" card. I bet Gonzo is traded within a week

^Lets hope Gonzo is traded. He was great for us, but its time to move on. That 2 run HR by Carlos just cemented it in my mind.

Gonzo has a no trade clause in his contract (not mention he's a 10/5 player), he's not going anywhere unless he wants to go there.

Just my guess: Green gets traded and Carlos takes over for him. Gonzo ends the year with the team and they part ways after they don't pick up his option

Webb induces a ground ball back to the mound, snags it, tosses it to Drew, who turns two by throwing a laser over to CoJack. I think I could get used to watching that for the next 5-10 years :)

I know, but would you rather stay somewhere that you werent wanted and refuse a trade or go play somewhere they wanted you? True his family and his heart may be here, but I would think it would be incredibly awkward for a team to try to trade you and then force them to keep you.

Something that concerns me is the amount of innings that Webb is pitching. I know he doesn't throw too hard but this might begin to take a toll on his arm.

His pitch count is usually low though. He averages around 104 pitches per game which isn't bad at all

The difference is that in the past Webb threw a lot more pitches to get through innings. He has yet to go over 120 pitches all year and it's not like he's throwing 98 MPH or breaking off ridiculous sliders or curve balls every pitch like K-Rod or Kerry Wood. Webb has only gone over 110 picthes twice all season.

Thats the great thing about inducing ground balls, hitters think they've got a hit, they ground out, and Webbys pitch count stays low. But now Ive just stated the obvious.

Yeah, but I still hope they would cut down a little bit on his total innings.

Oh and if Drew keeps on playing defense like this he should take over the full time SS duties.

He doesn't go deep into the count a lot, he's like Greg Maddux when we could throw a complete game on 88 pitches

Who do inning matter more than total pitches?

Great game for the "home grown" players. Congrats to Carlos Quentin and Stephen Drew for hitting their first big league RBIs in the same game (Q also with his first big league HR) and Webb was great yet again

Good catch. That's the sign of a great system!

The DBacks have figured it out. Pay the piper for top notch high draft picks and don't go splurging on FA.

Sure add a pitcher or two maybe a power guy - but the stability comes with great drafts and they get that.

Even the Yankees know that. Never give up top prospects - they're like gold. It keeps a team young.
