Oh, thank god. We're going to the 11th. Now we have to get a big lead, that was too close in the bottom of the 10th.

Edit: Carlos Quentin...I love you!!!

This game is a really impressive display of screw-ups

-Bad base-running
-Bad at bats during clutch situations
-Bad umpiring
-Bad fielding
-Bad pitching (especially from the starters)

What a mess
Not to mention a bad tv crew tonight. Screw ups everywhere tonight. Why do they keep cutting to commercial during the middle of the game?

I know! I was watching Carlos hit his homerun and it cut to a stupid Cox commerical as he was rounding third base, then it came back on as Stephen Drew hit a pop up out.

Wow, Pena strikes out Ryan Howard looking to get his first win in the big leagues.

is it to early to compare the arrival of Carlos Quentin to the D-Backs to Albert Pujols's arrival to the Cardinals.....?

What this kid has done in his first five games is nothing short of amazing...I was a Jackson guy before all this but I'm starting to believe that Quentin is the far superior of the two......

And how about that. Reports of the Philly fans booing their players that might be traded...SHOCKER!

We got it. You hate Philly fans. Is this the best thing you could come up with to post tonight? (And, for the record, we boo whoever sucks, whether they're on the trading block or not.)

Like everything else tonight, no one can do anything right. This is quite possibly the ugliest game I've ever watched

Horrible pitching. Horrible umping. Horrible everything. Painful.

I was amazed that Ryan Howard struck out, even more when he struck out looking.

I don't understand why he chased those pitches. Then he gets caught looking? Geesh.

Well, congrats to you guys in AZ. I am still ticked off about the safe-at-second play. Total crap.

The Phillies franchise is godawful. Tomorrow's game better be, well, better. If there's one thing I hate more than losing it's paying to see a game in 90 degree hot and humid weather when the team absolutely sucks. (Chances of that happening tomorrow? Pretty good.)

It should be better for the D'backs with Webb on the mound. Good Luck, PA.

Not just Quentin, Drew has also been a blessing at Shortstop. Tracy and Counsell seem too lazy at their positions sometimes, while Drew really puts everything into getting that out.

Also, for the Phillies fan here, we have Brandon Webb on the mound tommorow. I'd really be surprised if he drops that game.

Never heard Counsell be accused of playing lazy or taking plays off.

Yes. :) But he just has to play every day. Gotta ride the hot hand.

And speaking of hot hands, Julio does not have one. It's time to give him a few days off and give someone else a shot. It worked when we went from Valverde to Julio, and now it's time to do it again.

I think Julio is simply tired. He's pitched FIVE games in a row, with just 1 day off. I'm putting this on one Melvin for now.

I don't think Melvin deserves all the blame on this one, Julio's pitching has been off lately. I know that he has pitched a lot, but it's not like he's a starting pitcher. He only pitches a few innings of work max.

Maybe it's time we give Valverde another chance if this continues, but hopefully at the end of the game today we wont need our closer and Brandon Webb will have win number 12!

and he throws 100 mph and he is use to only pitching a few innings max. if you only ran a third of a mile 3 times a week and then where asked to run it everyday for a week, you would tire out, i promise you that.

It's not like he's forced to throw it 100 mph. Starting pitchers seem just fine striking people out with pitches below 100.

Actually he is forced to throw it 100 mph since that is his best pitch and why he is a closer in MLB. He is a fastball pitcher as Webb in a Sinker ball pitcher. Most closers are fastball pitchers. Most closers are closers becasue the have 2 pitches, and on rare ocassions 3 pitches. They are fastball, something that breaks and off speed. That is it. Again, there are the few like Kim when he closed here. That is another reason why there are only a few closers that have lasted a long time since throwing 100 mph is not easy to do for a long period. You take 8 to 10 mph off Randy Johnsons's fastball and slider and look what happens, he is average at best. If not for being on the Yankee's he has 5 wins max.
