Why don't you look at the big picture?

I posted when Davis returned that he is better equipped to cope with the irregular long relief role than the rookie Scherzer.

That's hardly a knee-jerk reaction to one bad inning.
All you have to do is look at all of my posts on prospects to realize that I'm not blind to "the big picture" or whatever other chicken soup cliches one wants to toss out. Considering how these posts were nowhere to be found when Davis gave up one run in seven innings his first start back or when he gave up one earned run in six innings the last time around, I don't see how this is anything but a knee jerk reaction.

I like Davis and admire what he has come through. But Scherzer's role as a pitcher doesn't deserve any less consideration than Davis'.

Too many young players on this team are under-performing. I hope Scherzer doesn't become another one.
All the more reason to use guys like Davis. A team as young as this one needs strong veteran support in order to be put in a position where they can succeed. Davis has averaged over 200 innings pitched in his last four seasons. Innings eaters aren't luxuries to winning clubs, they're a necessity. The Diamondbacks simply need Davis to be the pitcher we all know he can be if they want to go anywhere this season. It isn't much of a secret that the bullpen started to falter once the rotation hit a rough patch, due to the added work load. Guys like Davis help prevent that.

Something has got to give to shake up this team. Nobody is stepping up... nobody has that superstar mentality, at this point, to put the team on his shoulders and carry them out of this slump. Webb is awesome but only getting him every 5th day is not cutting it

Had to go out for an appointment and missed the game. Heard the last two innings on radio. Ugh, bases loaded in the 8th and again couldn't get that one bit hit.

On to New York.

Today's Az. Republic says:
...Chad Tracy might see time in the outfield while Byrnes was out, Melvin said Monday that he hasn't reached that point yet.

Melvin noted that Tracy would have to cover a lot of ground at an unfamiliar position while playing on a surgically repaired knee that still isn't 100 percent.

But depending on how we move forward offensively, it certainly could be a consideration down the road," Melvin said.
A psychiatrist would have a field day with Bob Melvin's passive behavior. Bring up a point. Neither accept nor reject it. And leave it hanging with a "down the road" comment. "Down the road", Brynes will be back in LF.

It's been reported that Tracy, Reynolds and Jackson all have experience playing in the outfield.

Why not leave Tracy at 3B and put Reynolds in LF? Or play Tracy at 1B and put Jackson in LF?

It's the passive behavior of our Manager that has put the D'backs into a "little slump" (yeah, right) as he calls it.

Bob Melvin is lucky that the Dodgers don't have a pitching staff skilled enough to take over first place.

BC, have you noticed the Giants are only 5 back and playing well now? They may be the bigger threat.

You're right, Skkorp.

It really ticks me off (here I go again) that Young is back to batting leadoff again . . . after hitting 3rd, 5th, 2nd, etc., for the past few games.

He hits HR's and is in the worst five in strikeouts in the league. But he's back to leadoff because he has speed -- which Melvin won't allow him to use.

It's the Bob Brenly/Bob Melvin 135-different-batting-orders-in-a-season complex.

How in the world is a young player supposed to develop if he comes to the ballpark every day, not knowing what his role will be?

Argggggggh!
