After taking three out of four from the Dodgers, its Cook vs. Vargas in game one of this three game series.

I think we can take two out of three games here. All 3 of our pitchers in this series have the ability to have very good games sometimes. Hopefully they do here because the D-Backs really need to win these divisional series.

Vargas irritates the hell out of me. He's good for either a near shutout, or 5 earned runs in 3 innings. Hopefully he has a good game tonight.

I hope Vargas doesn't blow it tonight, I know that Sunday it's going to be even harder too win with Cruz on the mound so we need to take tonights and tommorows game.

Well, Estrada just blew a chance to seriously blow this thing WIDE open; bases loaded, two outs. Sadly, an inning-ending popup.

Still up 5-1 though, on our way to the top of the 5th. Can't complain. :)

Welcome aboard.

Cruz seems to be a lot like the rest of our bottom of the rotation pitchers where they are either really good or really, really bad. Doesn't seem to be middle ground with those guys

Nice win. We are now 1 game out of the division and the wild card. If us and San Fran wins tomorrow we will be a half a game behind them in second place. Also is we win and Cinci looses we are the wild card leaders. What a great turn around after the bad streak.

Hopefully this isn't just a little win streak like the start of June, but so far it looks good, hopefully we can, by some chance get an NL west title.

My opinion on Cruz is pretty much what you just said, he lacks the consistency to be anything this season. Hopefully tonight was the turning point for Vargas, it would be nice to have a trio of pitchers in Batista, Webb and Vargas.

Here's to another Enrique Gonzalez win tommorow!

The fact of the matter is this team plays better against our own division. They are 22-16 against NL West teams. If they keep it up against the division alone, they will win the division. But man, that could be an intersting 3 games in the playoffs if we dont pick up some more pitching.

The Giants just made a small splash by aquiring Hillenbrand though. Watch out for them to be a little tougher offensively.

Tracy solo HR followed by Quentin hitting in Estrada with a double ties the score at 2 in the second.

Another HR for Carlos Quentin! Where can I snag my Stephen Drew and Carlos Quentin merch? I'm all over that bandwagon.

I know! I only wish Drew could get his first homerun before we go on this big road trip.

On another topic:

Now, I know I'm a newbie and all, but am I alone in thinking Chad Tracy need to be replaced as 3rd baseman? Anytime there's a ground ball in the 3'rd base/SS gap it's always Drew getting it unless it's directly at Chad Tracy, and even when it's hit at Tracy he drops it. It's so frustrating watching Tracy half ass everything, while Drew puts everything into the game. I'm convinced that homerun in the 2nd was a sheer act of god, with all the errors and strikeouts you'd think we have another A-rod on our hands.

So I'm wondering, why did Julio pitch last night? Wasn't that his 2nd straight day of pitching...hopefully if they use him tonight he won't be too tired.

Yes!!!! that was one hell of a game!! scary there in the first inning, but thankfully we aren't the June team anymore.

Also, why is that watching Julio close games is so nerve-racking?!

Carlos Quentin is doing a great job, 2 home runs in 2 games! Chad Tracy got one also and is slowly getting his average up. And Gonzo is starting to play better. I guess bringing Quentin up really motivated him to get that game winner. The D-Backs are close to the division lead now...only 65 more games until the playoffs, I hope they can finish the season strong. I'm going to a game next week.

You are not along but I hate your kind. :)Tracy will get better. His below average D is still a big improvement over his first year at that position, so you know he will work at it and get even better. If he can just improve a little then I'm fine with him there. The rest of the D is great. I wish there was a DH position though because I still like Tracy as a hitter.

I think Tracys offensive numbers would be a lot better if Melvin didnt dick with the line up so much. Whats so hard about:

Byrnes
Tracy
Estrada
Green

Or something like that at the top of the order? With Byrnes you get speed, Tracy is an ideal fit for the 2 hole, Estrada has been our one guy consistently over 300 and Green still has the potential for power and can get a lot of extra base hits.

I think knowing the 2 hold was his would also help Tracy on D, because it would be one less thing to worry about. His defense stinks right now, but I think/hope he'll improve.
