I guess I'm just too worried about the NL west standings, we don't really have any room for mistakes. Look at how we came back from 5 games out of first place to 1 game out, anyone can do that in our division.

Hopefully it's nothing major for Julio, and hopefully it shouldn't as he always seems to have a hard time closing games against Colorado. Remember the game a few weeks ago before the all star break where the Rockies came back and brought themselves within one run.

That was also part of the problem. The Rockies had seen Julio so much that his stuff wouldn't fool them, so if he was even a bit tired and had just a little off his fastball they were gonna knock him around.

Blame Melvin, because I think he's the only one who figured putting Julio in today was the right call.

Brenly had 2 pitchers and a slugger

Yah but those two pitchers were the best 1-2 punch ever, that hides a lot of other weaknesses. And the slugger hit 57HRs, just a few shy of Maris' record.

Unfortunately no closer is going to be perfect. Up until today, Julio has been pretty damn good. IIRC, today was his third or fourth day pitching in a row, so perhaps Melvin went to well once to often.

I'll give Julio the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

I'm not a Melvin fan....but with the day off today I would have went to Julio yesterday as well.

Good homestand though.....7-3 is great.

That is still not alone enough to win a World Series. Brenly did a great job that year to put it all together.

I think we are over valuing Brenly.... The team got career years out of virtually the entire team in 2001. All he had to do was send the horses onto the field and watch them work. Compare that to what Ozzie Guillen did for the White Sox last year, he got performances from guys who never reached potential their before.

Everything came together in 2001 and I don't know how much Brenly should be credited with that........
