What?
Final episode starts in about 30 minutes. And with it the end of competitive crabbing.

We're turning into such a country of pansies. Good lord.

Season 2 started last night on Discovery Channel - DVR'd it. I haven't watched it yet.

yeah we missed it too because we were watching the new season debut of Dog The Bounty Hunter.

That show bugs me, it's fun to watch but the payoff never comes, each week you expect some violence when they go to apprehend someone, but it never happens.

Should this thread be merged with the one that's going on in the TV forum?

My wife DVRs it and we watch them a few in a row. Love it. These captains are manly men you don't really see in popular media anymore. Reminds me of my grandfather.

What? You've got a 6" hook through your hand? Bah! Baby! ;)

The kind of money the make is enticing, but I got sick on a fishing trip off the relatively tame waters of the north Mexican Pacific Coast. No way I'd make it on the Bering Sea. I'd be like that newbie who wanted to put on the floating suit and swim back to shore. LOL

I was watching this and commented that "I could do that" which made my wife laugh out loud reminding me that I was born and raised in Arizona and got seasick on my one and only fishing trip in the Atlantic. It may be wise for me to never venture in the open sea......ever.

That other thread on this goes back to 2005. I didn't realize this show was that old. They're running marathons like crazy on Discovery right now. Definately a great show. Makes me want to do it, but there's no way I couldn't handle all that work they do.

I think I could handle the hard work if I got into better shape, I am 41 though so it'd probably kill me, just won't admit that.

The thing I could not do is climb on those stacks in the dark tieing up pots, OMG the horror.

Its just a matter of getting your mind right to do it the first time and then getting used to it after that. I once saw two framers throwing blows on the roof of a house. They were setting trusses so they were basically 12-15 feet in the air balancing on a 2x4 while fighting.

I, personally have been 20+ feet in the air hammering on the truss that I was standing on to hang a light box.

I'm not afraid of heights, and that's a good example you have there but it'd be better if they were doing it during a 8.0 earthquake so the house could be moving and better yet spray ice cold water on them and mix in 40 mile an hour winds, then it might be the same thing.

I wasn't saying that it was the same. I was just pointing out that its amazing that the guys felt confortable enough up there to start fighting. I know that there is no way I would do it.

Me: "Yeah, yeah...I'm gonna kick your a** and your gonna kick my a** but lets get on the ground first."

Deadliest Catch is officially my new guilty pleasure. Discovery has been running marathons of this show, and it's just darn fascinating. I like the Cornelia Marie captian, and Sig from the Northwestern.

Very interesting show! I just saw the episode where the Time Bandit pulled another boat's crewman out of the water after he went overboard. I found myself in tears at that episode.

Anyhoo, good show!

My great disappointment is that none of these guys talk like pirates.

HAHA!

Your hooked!

That is what happened to me.

I was working on my website, and had it on in the background. Next thing I know, 12 hours later it is still on, and I am still watching.

To quote myself:

My wife came home from work and I said" Sweetie.....I ...I can't stop watching these guys pull crab pots"

I haven't missed a show in 4 years. One of my favorite shows.

All so true.

Every year I watch the King crab season (first 1/2 of the season), and say "I could probably get through that" My only concern would be the 30 to 40 foot waves.

THEN Opie season starts and the next thing you know it is -12 out and the crew spends 8 hours a day chipping ice off the boat.......NO F'N WAY. The would break me like a twig.

These guys are INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!
