(And yes, she is underage no matter the age of consent in NY. A 23-year-old man shouldn't be dating a 17-year-old.)

You meet a girl, even though she's not the prettiest girl in room, but you are attracted to her and you guys get along. You want to continue to see her. It happens.
The bottom line here is we don't know exactly what happened between these two. We just know that he's 23 and he met this girl at a 21+ nightclub. It's not like he was preying on little girls at HS dances.

I agree but he should be smarter than this. Because even though it is legal people are going to have a tissy fit and make it an issue... Hopefully it will just go away and he'll be left alone... I doubt it...

Her "biological clock"? WTH does that even mean? So when girls start menstruating it should be legal to have sex with them?
If she isn't a legal adult then she's underage, as far as I'm concerned. Even if it's technically legal it is still unseemly and inappropriate.

At the risk of having Conquest tell me I have an agenda again here's why this story is so ridiculous.
in 2006 Mark Sanchez was accused of sexual assault by a fellow USC student, as often happens with USC football players, no charges were filed but Sanchez was disciplined by the team anyways because he was guilty of underage drinking and using a fake ID to gain access to the place where he met the girl he allegedly assaulted.
So we scroll forward 5 years and Mark is now 24 and not only does he hook up with a 17 year old, he knew she was 17, knew she couldn't legally be in the club he was in.
Now if there's any player on the Jets who should know that's a situation to stay away from it's a guy who got caught using a fake ID, underage drinking, and accused of sexual assault when he was in college. He can't say well I'm young I make mistakes, he already made that mistake, he can't say he didn't know the law he knew it perfectly well because of what happened in college.
It sounds like it was totally consensual and the girl just went public to get her 15 minutes of fame but it just doesn't look good for a guy who had his past to do something like this IMHO.

7 years difference in their age. Would anyone be making a big deal of this is she was 23 and he was 30?
If that is her picture pasted on the first page, she looks even younger than 17. What would a guy his age see in a youngster like that?

What if he was 20, she was 13? Only seven years difference...
I know there is not a lot of difference in your case between 115 and 122, but 17?? Legal, yes, but poor judgement.
Probably not as weird as and ex Jet QB sending a reporter pictures of your weenie, for a year. Or as weird as a coach with a foot fetish and posts videos of his hobby on swinger sites. Or as weird as a team mate who has 9 children by 8 women in 6 different states.

The difference being she isn't of legal age at 13. And it's 152, not 122. For crying out loud Jon. I would think being an accountant, you would be better at numbers than that.

But he is. He knew her age and the fact that she was still in high school and he continued to come around. It is SUPER sleezy.
The problem is:
#1 She is still in high school.
#2. She was open about her age and the fact that she was a high school student, regardless of the location that they met.
#3. He continued to talk to her and eventually "hook up" with her long after knowing her actual age.
#4. There is a pattern of behavior that extends beyond this incident.
#5. 24 year old men have no business hooking up with high school girls. If I heard about some random 24 year old guy pursuing a high school girl, I would guess he was a loser or had some emotional issue where he hasn't matured with his age.
#6. Yeah she is a year from College. She is also a year from him being a sex offender. That lack of judgement is astonishing.
So 17 is legal in NY.. But they did the deed in NJ.. Whats the age law in NJ?
Not to mention if Sanchez took her word for the laws in NY.. He's a moron.. Im not just saying a moron for the age thing.. Im saying moron because he's a high profile athlete and just believing some random chick on something thats potentionally dangerous to your freedom is wallet is moronic..

Agree. Age matters less and less as we get older. A guy who is out of college dating a high school girl is weird. I think it is interesting that some people here posted that they didn't have a problem with it, but they wouldn't want it to be their daughter? Why is that? Cause, anyway you slice it, it's kinda weird.

that was me .... but yeah, I wouldn't want my daughter to be out drinking and smoking in clubs having sex with NFL QBs .... especially when still in HS
then again, I also think I'd raise my daughter with enough self respect and oversight where having a sleepover in another state and taking pictures of the bedroom isn't the fun thing to do
there are a lot of things out there that I wouldn't want for myself or my family .... that doesn't mean it's necessarily appropriate to shame those who are doing those things though .... i generally set a higher standard for myself and those that I'm around
that doesn't mean that those who fail to meet up to my standards are outrageous morally vapid heathens ....... they're just people I generally wont have a lot of respect for, won't include in my life and probably will never understand
the interesting angle to this whole thing for me is that they are trying to make one side or the other a "victim" .... there is no victim here, just a couple people with really poor decision making skills and a chance to have one of those wonderful learning moments that life presents us with every so often ...... if they actually embrace the opportunity to learn something is a completely different question

Could not agree more. Add to that her mental maturity and where his should be but apparently isn't. I guess he figures he can get a 17 old to do things maybe an older women may not do.
Of course there is the possibility that he is as mature as a 17 year old and hasn't grown up yet.
There is also she is a girl and he should be looking at women or else this just strokes his ego.
