I agree but he should be smarter than this. Because even though it is legal people are going to have a tissy fit and make it an issue... Hopefully it will just go away and he'll be left alone... I doubt it...

And by people, we mean you, right?

What should be in question, however, is the absolutely poopy parenting the girl's family has done. Smoking? Drinking? Out at a NY club? Yeah, this girl screams of victim, right?

POINT OF ORDER! My folks did an amazing job teaching me right from wrong. Guess who regularly continued to choose wrong? ( and I dont, in haindsight view it as wrong choices, though I was taught they were, and Ill tell my kid that she needs to be smar twhen exploring the world, NO PICTURES!!!!!) Smoking and drinking at 15, fake ID at 17, drugs, booze, petty criminal nonsense, and in the end, I turned out pretty friggin awesome, I look back on it and say, kids are kids. I have an amazing job, an amazing marriage and an amazing daughter.

Dont ALWAYS blame the parents for a late teen knowing better and doing it anyway.

Good for you, schutd.

Unfortunately, it is still breaking the law and not all minors turn out to be as "friggin awesome" as you did. That should be seen as the problem here, but of course, Sanchez is the one getting crap for it bc of his high profile.

All I have to say is for those who don't see any problem with this then you would find it acceptable to have a 24 year old guy hooking up with your 17 year old daughter.

Imagine your you getting up in the morning to greet the guy who slept with your daughter at the breakfast table. Good morning Dad this is Mark and he stayed over last night.

"Gee, honey, where'd you meet this guy? You were out drinking and smoking illegally at a bar last night? Oh, you! :p"

This girl is hooking up with guys on the first night, she doesn't exactly scream "bring home to parents" type.

He's getting crap because he was the adult, or he was supposed to be the adult. He was the one who clearly knew 17 was too young based on him telling her we can still talk. Yet in the end he apparently decided 17 wasn't too young.

The high profile is just a copout, if he wasn't high profile it wouldn't be in the news so of course it's because he's high profile. That's why people in his position have to be even more careful.

Still irrelevant.
It is relevant...in the context of what Shzm13 posted...which is that how was Sanchez to know?
So its Sanchez' fault for not carding her at the bar that she's not even supposed to be at because she's not 21? :biglaugh:

What a joke!

Doesn't matter, she shouldn't have been there in the first place and its legal age of consent.
And now you are just deflecting away what your post above was implying, that it 's not his fault that he feeding her drinks because how was supposed to know that she wasn't old enough. He did know. Oh, I'm sorry, we don't know that he was feeding her drinks...I mean that isn't the SOP of picking up a girl at a bar, is it?

You guys are right about his high profile though. Any other 23 or 24 old average guy and it's a non-story. Same as if I'm in a shopping mall and instead of opening a door for an old lady I cut her off to get ahead of her in line. Then when she tells me that was un-gentlemanly I reply "Shut up you old hag, isn't it time for you to die yet?" Doubt that ends up on Youtube. Sanchez does it and I guarantee you, it will go viral and he would get crucified in the press. Perfectly legal. At the very least, he's an imbecile. Morally, honestly, I've probably done worse when I was young and probably would have done the same thing. :EDIT: Not to the old lady. I probably would tried to pick her up too.

Really?????

Man, the offseason is boring.

I was sneaking into clubs at 17. I was 25 dating an 18 year old, I met my wife in a club. We are together 15 years and happy as hell, people. Relax.

I guess you missed my post about being facitious about that, but thanks for reminding me to relax.

I totally agree with you on those points! My mom always said you can raise a kid until about age 12 or 13, and then they're pretty much gonna make their own choices. That's not to say that she ALLOWED me to make my own choices, but she knew, by that age, I had already started to determine what was right and wrong for me, even if it was different from what she taught me.

I think Sanchez was simply trying to get himself a Series on Showtime.

Mostly everyone who goes to bars assumes that the people in it are 21+. Even if she says she's 17, she shouldn't have been there. The proper action Mark should've taken, would have been to alert the bouncer to have her removed from the club. ;) Doesn't change the fact that she should not have been there, drinking, or smoking. That's the real issue.

Wow she looks 15....

Not in that picture. Unless you think this chick is 15 too.

However, she does look younger in those other pics, but I'm guessing at the club she looked more like the one where she's smoking. In a nightclub, the girl in that picture does not look 15. Come on.

She doesn't look that young.

I don't really see the big deal anyway. Mark Sanchez still is young and if he wasn't in the NFL nobody would care about it at all. I know lots of girls who dated guys in the 20s when they were 16-18..

I agree with you in that she is the one that broke the law, because even though he probably bought her drinks we don't KNOW that he did. I just think that he was/is an idiot. He's got at least a million women in and around where he lives that he would find hot, available and not of questionable age. Hell, he could probably score at a convent.

That reminds me of the time in high school when I was going to another keg party. I walk in the back door of the house only to see two nuns sitting there... Fun night!

Who cares?

If its a legal issue the cops will handle it.

Its really annoying how my beloved sports are turning more into OK magazine and TMZ day after day. The scrutiny and microscope that all celebreties are under these days is ridiculous. We build them up to tear them down.

Take a stand on this crap and stop paying attention and feeding the machine. Only then will it go away.

Welcome to 2011. I agree with you but the times are what they are. Look at the thread about Lindsay Lohan. He's an idiot. A criminal? No. He wouldn't be this rich if it was 1965 and no one cared either.
