Just accept that K-9 will hate until it's absolutely impossible to continue doing so. He was certain that Washington was a scrub and bust until 4-5 games ago when suddenly he became the best player on the D and a rising star lol. Same thing with Beanie.

Clearly you've done an excellent job reading my posts over the past couple of years.

Don't you need to find #7 in a hot tub with Wilmer Valderrama somewhere?

It's like saying, sure he had 130 yds rushing but if you take away his 80 yd run he only had 50 yds. It is what it is.

Agreed. You take away the top throw from 99% of the QB's yesterday and I bet their QB rating significantly dropped. K-9 = Haters gonna hate...

But on the other hand yardage is still important. Kolb only completed 2 more passes in the 2nd half than he did in the first. 7-11 to 9-14.

Bingo on all accounts. How many 50+ yard TD passes do we see in this league? It's part of the game, not a fluke. To question otherwise is to discount the QB's effort to fulfill some sort of agenda.

Kolb was as bad as he has been all year in the 1st half, and looked like a totally different player in the 2nd half.

He was not great, but its a start and its something to build on. He was getting time to throw all game and its almost like he didnt realize until the 3rd quarter. Also him realize that Roberts is on the team was a big help.

I will give Kolb a C or C- today which is a great improvement. He was not very accurate in the first half and he ran mostly forward rather than backwards. In fact he made a couple of good runs for yardage. He also missed some wide open guys badly. As long as he is improving each game is the big thing. Our defense won this game for the most part.

Next up: SIGN CAMPBELL to a contract. He is a future all pro. Our defense is finally coming together so lets not let it fall apart before it even becomes a defense. I would think the other players would really be pi--- off if we let him walk as he has no contract.

How does Tebow keep on winning? To watch him throw you would think he is in Little League but he seems to always find a way to win. He could be a RB on most teams. No fear in this guy.

High praise coming from someone who's become expert at doing so. No statistically controlling for outliers, huh? Or measuring how he performed under four full quarters of play.

Still waiting for you to find that thread where I was homing for Vince Young to be signed by the Cards.

No one's questioning Kolb's "effort." I'm still questioning his ability, since his signature plays have been when the defender fell down (Week 1 against Carolina) and two instances where he threw the ball all of seven yards.

Well worth the $21 million and 2nd round pick + DRC.

His single best TD play was the throw to Fitz right as he was getting blasted in the Washington game. It was long and on the money.

Agreed on all counts.

Kolb gets an F for the first half, and probably a B for the 2nd and OT, so the C for the game is pretty fair.

And others have been saying he "needed to shake off the rust" in the 1st half... give me a break. The "rust" he shook off was the same trash play we've seen all year from him. In the 2nd half he started using the time he had been getting all game and for the majority of the year in the pocket. He also started looking for a receiver besides Fitz.

It was a huuuuge improvement. But the trade and contract are still indefensible, and Kolb is a lousy QB who will, at best, develop into an average one. He misses a ton of throws, he is still abysmal when it comes to throwing down field (and that will never change). He took a big step towards becoming "average" during the 2nd half when he stopped running around with no purpose besides taking sacks or expecting his line to hold off the rush for a good 10 seconds. He was delivering the ball in a reasonable amount of time and allowing his receivers to make plays.

If our defense continues its evolution and actually becomes a top 5 defense that can hold teams between 10-17 points on a regular basis then maybe we could win at a consistent rate with an average QB like Kolb (assuming Kolb does not revert to his previous 6 games), but I would prefer to go find a QB who can stretch the field and has higher potential than what we've got.

Some of those passes were so bad, I have to attribute them to rust. In the second half, he was hitting his targets and got into a rhythm. But he had open guys in the first half too, and missed more often than not.

Personally, I think he hit the rhythm because he was staying in the pocket and delivering the ball. Thats why I dont think it was "rust". He didnt get warmed up, he actually changed what he was doing leading up to the throw during the 2nd half.

Oddly enough Kolb completed fewer passes in the second half than he did in the first half. 7 in the first. 6 in the second. 3 in Overtime. The Cards were completing passes in the first half. They just weren't going anywhere. Especially those two where they threw it sideways for a 2 yard loss and followed up on the next play with a 2 yarder.

I have him graded out at a 9.5 in the first half and 6.0 in the second. :sarcasm:

You have to give Kolb the benefit of the doubt on this one. I think it was rust simply because he'd been out of the game for 4 weeks and was getting readjusted to game speed against a ferocious pass rush. He was staying in the pocket in the first half, but holding onto the ball for way too long.

What made you think I was addressing you? I didn't mention any names.......

But with the bold, perhaps you are one who has an agenda seeing as you point to particulars such as "defenders falling down" as a means of discounting one's abilities. I can no longer discuss football with people who do not care for objectivity. Welcome to my "ignore" list.

BTW, high praise is given when it is merited. I think before you start calling out members for any sort of slander, you should first take a look at your own posts, seeing as you make a living on ASFN chastising others. Like I told you before, pot meet kettle.

I thought that one pass to Roberts to the left for a long completion was a great pass by Kolb. You play four quarters, and the rating is what it is because it rates the whole game and counts as so.
