You're right it isn't close. Ingram is only exceptional because it's a down year for pass rushers. Schofiield had better numbers in College. DeCastro is compared to Hutchinson; Ingram to ???.
Russell Wilson, Kellen Moore, and Case Keenum had better college numbers than Andrew Luck. Does that mean you'd want them over Luck? Ingram is regularly compared to LaMarr Woodley. I'll take Woodley over Hutchinson any day as well.

So you're saying he's a solid second round pick like LaMarr? Ok! ;)

I'll take the guy who compares to Hutchinson, a first round pick, who'll get H of F consideration.

Just a question about both positions do most of the best players at either position come out of the 1st round? I know alot of Guards don't, but 3-4 OLBs seem to be hit and miss in the 1st round.

So if a QB is compared to Tom Brady, they shouldn't be considered first material :doi:, only 6th. Nice logic.

Relax. Neither one of us is making a selection in this or any other draft. We'll see if either pans out. I know your choice and you know mine. The logic is pretty simple. If Ingram is comparable to Woodley before he's played an NFL down, he is PERHAPS a second round pick too. I take it that the smilie was lost on you.

Exactly, and because he's big and fast and smart and strong Horton can move him all over in his Picasso Defenses. A perfect guy for Ray.

He does not run Picasso defenses, Horton clearly runs Salvador Dali defenses with multiple looks so you do not know where the pass rush is coming from... and it beats the hell out of the Jackson Pollock defenses we ran under Pendy with our guys splattered all over the place

I don't even think it's close. I'd take Ingram over DeCastro every day. I don't even think the Cards will look at drafting a guard until late in the draft and get a developmental type guy. Grimm just came out and said Snyder was the starting RG. Ingram is rated just as high, or very similarly, and plays an higher impact position that fills a need.

Did he really. Got to agree here.

Ingram has no length and is chubby.

NFL lineman are going to destroy him every down.

sorry BB, even though I think Ingram is not lazy, a interview when him saying how hard he might work and all the other stuff is just talk. The only thing that matters is his play. All the players say the same thing in these interviews... relatively the whole "I need to get better", "I want to be remembered by giving 100%", "I want my team to win championships" and the basic cliche responses. They are well aware everything they say is part of a job interview right now and they will all try to come across as the most hard working, grateful, humble person on the planet so they may get drafted...securing a boatload of money

Don't overlook that Sam Acho also played LB at Texas early in his career.

As a generalization, most evaluators safest way to project a college DE to a pro OLB is if they have ever played on their feet, off the LOS. If they have, they come with a higher success rate. If I didn't have 2 kids and a wife who works and is in nursing school, I might start that project to find some hard numbers on college DE to pro OLB success rate from players who played standing up at some point vs guys who were always at DE or DT. Alas, if I do, it might take a long time but is something I am considering.

The length is less of an issue for OLB's but is a concern. The chubby part, he will harden up in the NFL, as most players do when it is harped on by the NFL. South Carolina doesn't seem to have a stict weight program when you look at the body types coming from that program.

Now that I think about it Horton runs M.C. Escher Defenses and the opposing offense has no idea whether we're coming or going.

If he gets paid, will he be lazy?.....that's the question. Not so much now as in the past with the new CBA. You'd prefer someone who's worked out in his program regularly though.

No problem with the Tide boys....just sayin'.

Yeah, Terrance Cody, Rashad Johnson, Rolondo McClain, and Andre Smith have all come out as top workout guys with great physically toned bodies...

I'm also sure all of the 8lbs or so Courtney Upshaw put on since the combine is muscle as well.
