Whether those incidents are true or anecdotal, Dockett better not try that kind of crap in the NFL. Pros get even.

WC

There's a big article about Florida OL's being ordered not to talk about Dockett prior to the "rematch" in 2003. They were all saying they weren't allowed to say anything about revenge. But they all clearly wanted to get Dockett from the article.

Nasty rep is one thing, dirty is as you say another, you don't get away with that stuff for long in the NFL.

It happened quite a while ago let's hope it's not an issue with Dockett now.

Most of the reviews I read ,going into the draft eluded to this / these incidents - and added that it would affect the round he'd be drafted. Some talked about FIRST round talent, and, in effect - a SEVENTH round coconut for a brain... :D

But I always thought that was off the field stuff, getting arrested, fights, things that I knew about. I never heard of this before.

I know Wallyburger didn't like Dockett pre draft maybe he knows about this story?

all i know is randy moss was a talented but troubled player and he has done pretty good in the pros ( understatement of the year ).. I remember reading the articles about dockett having seen a rough life and what not. I would say that this is now his profession and maybe he has grown up. I sure hope so.... I remember that twisting and punching all all kinds of crap went on underneath piles. I am not defending him if in fact he did do these things. I just think it is time to look ahead and give the guy a chance. Like others have said... let him try that in the pros and he may not live to see the end result.

There was a clear mention, in what I read - of him attempting to injure....

Shoot, Im not gonna be little Miss politically correct. If he is tough enough to play dirty and get away with it making opposing players wet themselves fine with me.

A little known guy by the nake of Conrad Dobbler played this style of game. And we need it badly. These are players green likes as well. He said Steponovich is a reall mean player. I liek that. Robert gallery is the same way

Dobler would punch guys, trip them, I think he was even accused of biting one. Dobler did NOT try to stomp on a QB's throwing hand or damage a RB's knee forcing him to miss several games

FYI, Dockett denies it, he says the video was "inconclusive" and that the tape of him bragging about what he did to Graham was in fact about him tackling Graham for a 1 yard loss.

Mainly it surprised me, I know Spurrier and Bowden hated each other but this is one feud I've never heard of before this.

As for why I don't like it, I refer you to the career of Eric Swann, a guy who's career was cut significantly short due to 2 cheap shots at his knees that led to a career full of surgeries. You never know who's going to retaliate, and who might get injured in the process.

I'm with Clif, I hope Dockett got this stuff out of his system in college.

That would be because he was an OFFENSIVE LINEMAN!!!!!! You dont tackle a QB or RB as an OL.

He also was known for trying to poke eyes out. Now if you cant ruin a guys career by poking his eye out ...welll just ask the dude from the browns. I love that type a play and hope he brings it here.

I also like hockey (or used to) when guys like Kasparitus (my fav player) would beat the crap outta lemuix(sp?) up and down the ice as we beat them in the playoffs (Islanders 1992) whooo hoooo. Call me sadistic I guess but I liek the dirty players that play with skill. That is giving 110%

I guess we just gotta disagree. I don't believe in intentionally injuring your opponent.

If that article had been about a rookie on any other team in the NFL, I kind of doubt you'd be defending that players style.

Remember when buddy brought in Andre Waters? Most fans I knew at the time hated it. I just hope it's an isolated incident with Dockett.

I hated Pat Fischer for the same reason, got tired of watching him hit Mel Gray in the head with a forearm.

... only because he was an offensive guard.

For those of us old enough to have seen Conrad in action: He was the dirtiest of the dirty!!!!

I saw him play a lot too, Dobler played in a different era, that stuff isn't really tolerated in the NFL today.

I never saw Dobler grab a guys leg and lean on it with all his weight while twisting it, that's what Graham says Dockett did.

he actually considered a civil suit over it before changing his mind.

There IS a line to me between being aggressive, nasty, and downright taking cheapshots. If Dobler played today, he'd be getting fined every game.

You had barely reached puberty when he was playing. Don't know about you, buj I was noticing other things at that time in life.

Believe me: There were at least a few pileups every game when guys came up pushing, swinging and shoving... and who was in the middle of it all: CONRAD DOBLER

The reason you don't recall some of the stuff he was doing, has probably more to do with the lack of instant replay from every angle, in those days.

Monday morning newspapers were replete with threats from Giants, Skins or Cowboy players saying they were going to kill him, next time out.

What could he have done to cause all of that ???? :D

I was 10 in 75, and I am perfectly aware of his rep as the dirtiest player in the NFL at the time.

I'm just saying I don't think he was trying to take out someone's knee after a play was over.

he certainly did the eye poke and other things, and I know he was really hated.

And again, that was a different era, these days with the money involved guys like Dobler are just not going to be tolerated.

Look at Wisniewski for example, his own teammates publicly called him out for cheapshots as a Raider because they were tired of pissed off opponents retaliating against other players.

Dobler would get fined so much he'd be playing for free.

You're right.I guess they should just chuck the move after one half of one pre-season game. We should play JOhnson there because he weighs about 265lbs.Forget playmaking ability,Dockett doesn't fit the mold. What a wasted draft pick.Cut his ass.

I didn't say to get rid of Dockett, because I think he will be a good or Pro-
Bowl player for us. I just do not feel he is suited to play DE. I think we would
be better if he played inside with speed on the corners. How good was our
defense in '98 with Swann and Rice. That's pretty much the standard in the
league.

I for one can't stand dirty players.

I do remember a quote from Dobler stating that he is accused of biting players and that's not easy to do with a face mask unless a player has stuck his hand in your face. It's also interesting that Dobler made the Pro Bowl several times in his carreer. Your Peers / Opponents are the ones voting for this honor. If Dobler was that hated and dirty and never would have made the Pro Bowl.

I watched the Cardinals during Dobler's tenure with the team and heard and witnessed some of his actions. I just think it was played up in the media to a higher degree than what actually happened on the field.

If anyone ever watched the interview a couple of years ago with Dierdorf and Dobler you would come away with the same impression as I just stated. Dierdorf did say that he wasn't a fan of all of Dobler's actions but there was an obvious respect they shared.
