Recently, it was announced that 5 coaches from the New York Jets will not be returning to the organization. It has been reported that ownership thought they had too many coaches and that their vacancies will not be filled.

From NFL.com

Ryan said the contracts of DeFilippo, assistant defensive backs coach Doug Plank, special teams assistant Kevin O'Dea, pass-rush specialist Chuck Smith and defensive quality-control coach Brian Smith had expired and wouldn't be extended.
Doug Plank:

He wasn't the key guy that coached up Revis and the rest of that secondary, but he sure helped. Doesn't hurt that he is experienced and is used to tight, physical play from defensive backs. His known for his hard hitting and aggressiveness.

Chuck Smith:

Previously held the position of Pass-rush Specialist with the Jets. He is an experienced LB's coach and well accredited from the University of Kentucky. He is good at finding ways to get to the QB. Is he perhaps better than our current LB coach?

Brian Smith:

Young coach, who was given the responsibility and title of Defensive Quality Control coach. Some of the responsibilities of a defensive quality control coach, is to assist the coaches, analyze video of opponents offense, create tendency reports and give them to the defensive coordinator. They play a pretty large role in weekly game planning. While of course, the Jets success on defense cannot be fully attributed to him, he could be of some substantial help to Bill Davis in his game planning.

If it will help the defense then bring 'em in.

Do they know how to teach players to tackle and not play touch football?
