I am not convinced DeFillipo is as flawed as he appears. Zimmer is a DC in HC clothing. Plenty of examples, including our Cards, of stifling Defensive skewed HCs holding back OCs.

No. It was his offense sucking cow turds with tons of talent and a huge drop off from last year with a less talented player at QB. Wreaks of poor coaching.
Tons of talent? Thielen & Diggs, yea. Dalvin Cook might be decent. That OLine is atrocious though. Cousins stat-padding stats in garbage time look cool but I don’t think he’s really an upgrade over Keenum.

I never got the DeFillipo love. Reich and Pederson ran that Eagles offense. I'm not saying he won't become a HC someday, and may be a very successful one, but I never wanted him as the Cards coach. I wanted Shurmur.

Does he pull a Hue and head back to Philly for the stretch run?

BTW. What happened to the Super Bowl or Bust mode Vikings were in during the off season. Closer to bust than S B. Hired JDF, broke the bank on Cousins, and rolled the dice. I, for one never deemed Rick Spielman as a top level G M. He hired an O C who was passed over last year for a H C slot, with a chip on his shoulder and I'll show you game plan. He allowed Cousins, a known salary seeking whiner, with a history of mediocrity, to suck the financials out of Vikes. Maybe Spielman and Zimmer need to be considered for the hot seat list.

Who T H is Kevin Stefanski, the interim O C. Seems awkward that he was a Vikings Offensive assistant since 2006 and was passed over for JDF.

Rumor is that JDF is #1 on Jets HC search.

"We may think we know, but..."

Maybe we don't know diddly.

DeFlip seemed to have the magical "it" factor...And how about Chip Kelly? (Love those pictures).

And if you're a "biscuit-seeker", how about Mike (Deep Bomb From the One Foot Line on 3rd Down) Martz?

Suspect that more goes into being a successful HC or OC (including, luck, injuries, a smart owner and an oblong ball that bounces funny). We'd all be well-advised to drill down deeper into the things that go into making a better HC or HC and hire for that?

Interesting article.

I personally like the short passing game on 1st down (high percentage/quick hits) to loosen up the defense. Keeping the defense off balance and on their heels is better than slamming runs into an 8 man front on 1st and 2nd down and then trying to convert on 3rd long.

DeFlilippo might be the best OC available next year but he would have the same issue with Wilks as he did with Zimmer. I certainly wouldn't hire him as HC.

PS - I still don't think Wilks gets fired this year.

Best OC available? Based off what? He has been an OC for 1 year and his results were enough to get him fired already? EDIT: Wait sorry forgot about his one season in Cleveland too LOL

Yeah, me neither. Even McVay was an OC for 3 or 4 yrs before becoming a HC.

Soooo many reactionary fans, lol.
