The Sanders family is not the type to shy away from the spotlight, and if recent mock drafts prove correct, Shedeur Sanders might be heading to the bright lights of New York City. His head coach and father, Deion Sanders, likes the sound of that.
At the ProMat Conference in Chicago, Coach Prime was asked where he thinks his son will be drafted in the 2025 NFL draft.
"Let's hope it's New York," Sanders said.
Sanders hints that the New York Giants, who have the No. 3 overall pick, are Deion and Shedeur's preferred destination in the upcoming draft.
It would make sense for Shedeur to prefer New York, as it offers a chance to step in immediately as the Giants' starting quarterback and become the team's offensive leader. You can't fault Shedeur and Deion for liking the Giants to the situation in Cleveland, where Deshaun Watson is still under contract. New York also offers much more from a branding standpoint than Cleveland, which would seem to factor into a Sanders family decision.
Shedeur Sanders would team up with star wide receiver Malik Nabers and form a potent quarterback-wide receiver duo that would make them one of the more intriguing offenses in the league.
Whether Shedeur gets selected by the Giants is anybody's best guess, but Deion made his voice heard, and he definitely holds some sway in NFL circles.
The NFL draft will take place April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Shedeur Sanders and teammate Travis Hunter are likely to be among the top 10 picks.
