I temporarily lost the feed - between Urban saying problems combined coaching problems with some lack of talent - and Kent Somers saying there need to be an attitude change.
What did I miss?
Fast recap -
- Both guys loved the speed that the Cards moved with to pull the trigger on the guy they wanted.
- The B's apparently bipassed issues of morality in order to bring in the guy best able to win.
- No question that Michael is in charge of football operations (though he does have to check with Pop in big decisions).
- There will be a division of labor between Dennis and Rod, but theory and practice are 2 different animals - they'll have to wait and see.
- Green had to work with a 10 owner zoo in Minny for awhile. While winning games appears to take precedence over morality issues, the Cards would do their fans a disservice not to chase down rumors of problems. Michael and Rod did. Mostly all smoke and no fire. There were mistakes but they weren't considered "fatal."
- Urban did note the dichotomy between character in the locker room and Dennis' background, observing "maybe the Cards realize that going for character didn't win, so they're pursuing a different tack."
- Talentwise, Cards aren't close, according to KS. Urban generally agrees.
(Lost feed)
- KS - Strides have been made overcoming losing attitude but much is left to be done. Must convince players. DU - Even tougher - convince a much-burned public.
- Emmitt will be asked to play a role subordinate to Marcel. KS says he won't buy in. Sees odds of Emmitt returning as 40/60. Darren says he seemed to come to grips with this by end of season. Pegs odds a tad better.
- KS - Dennis loves Shipp.
