He really said a lot of good things about the team. Didn't seem sour about losing his job or anything like that.

He had a few good things to say about Palmer.

"Palmer and Fitzgerald will create some fireworks this year"

"Palmer is big, strong and throws a tremendous deep ball"

"Fitzgerald has not gone into a season with a QB who he knew would be the QB in a while and that will make a difference"

He was saying that the running game still needs work, but that this will be an improved team because of the QB position.

He actually said that the Cardinals will be an improved team defensively because of all the play makers they have around the field and the ability they will have of forcing turnovers.

Never pointed out any specific players other than Larry and Carson.

He has to be civil. I am sure he wants another shot at a job in the League someday and bad-mouthing old bosses won't make that happen.

They were just showing Kolb, and Stevie Johnson was behind the defense and Kolb underthrew the ball causing Johnson to slow down and it was defended away.

It's funny cause then NFL network talked about it, and said that play and the next, a fumbled snap exchange was the reason why Manuel will probably start. That you don't spend 1st round picks on guys to sit and really the only thing that could keep him from starting was if he couldn't grasp the offense (which they didn't hint at whether he was having problems or not).

So yeah, typical Kolb underthrowing receivers. It had some arc too.

Denny Green indeed looked in no way bitter.

It's 4:35 pm ET and we got maybe 5 minutes of Dennis G and Kurt W.

Hardly comprehensive Cardinal camp coverage.

The one thing Green and other coaches understand is that if you don't win then you are not going to be around very long. I still like Green. He brought the talent that took the Cardinals to the Super Bowl. To bad he couldn't bring them all together.

There was millions remaining on his guaranteed contract when he left.

Again, I understand and agree with your position.

Think of my comment as noticing how he was approaching talking about the Cardinals and attempting to hammer another nail in the coffin that he isn't bitter, not as a surprise that he isn't.

They got some pretty good air time afterwards once practice started...now the damn NfLN has lost it's signal on directv! :bang: Coencidence? :D

Maybe I'm just grumpy, but if I'm broadcasting from training camp and, in a sense, introducing a national audience to the Cardinals, I'm gonna want to:

- Compare BA's coaching approach and offensive and defensive philosophies with the prior regime.

- Discuss how Mendy, KW, Ellington and Taylor might differ from Beanie, KW and LSH.

- Compare the Bowles 3-4 approach to the Horton approach.

- Check out the retooled secondary (including the new corners, Mathieu and Bell)

I just feel that all we got was a little bit of Palmer, PP21 and Fitz with tangential
mention of guys like Jefferson, Floyd and the backup QB's. Plus several unflattering comparisons with Atlanta, SF and Seattle.

By contrast, we saw lengthy interviews of guys like Wilson, Reggie Wayne and White. How come none of our guys got that kind of attention? I wonder whether any of the NFLN talking heads did their homework and were even remotely familiar with most of the players at the top of the Cardinal depth chart. It sure didn't seem like it.

Update - Later on,Kurt had a long interview with Fitz. But I'm sticking to my opinion - The Cardinal offseason has been loaded with great story lines; from: Arians to Keim to CP to twice the number of coaches to the Dude Formally Known as Honey Badger to the additions of Karlos, Abe and Winston to possible changes to 80% of the OL. These stories are only known to hard core Cardinal fans like thee and me. The national media is missing out on some really interesting stuff.

I don't think this is Denny being civil. He has always been a good talent evaluator. His current job is all about noticing talent, (or lack of it). He is not about bad mouthing anyone. He is about reporting on the status of the teams that they are reviewing each day.

Not only the national media. The local media doesn't even address things like what you brought up most of the time. The Austin media does a better job of covering the Cowboys and Texans than the Phoenix media does of the Cardinals.

But when you go 4-12 or 5-11 every other year for 25 years you really can't expect much more. It did take a couple of years of the Texans winning for the locals to realize there were two NFL teams in Texas.

As for Denny Green we should never forget he was the HC who brought in Kurt Warner as a FA in 2005.

Though I've heard rumors that it was Steve Kiem who actually convinced the Cardinals to sign Kurt. :D

Jeff, I would LOVE to see such insightful reporting on the Cards, but I don't think they want to "introduce" the team nationally for one nor do I think they have that much respect for their audience's knowledge or intelligence.
