Thought Mike Klis article worthy of a separate thread. We obviously don't have enough already. :D

But until his agent, Tom Condon, starts talking contract with teams, any report pronouncing any team is leading the Manning sweepstakes seems premature. Contract talks are expected to begin today.

It has been widely reported there could be a "mystery" team included in this fraternity rush. Actually, there may be two: San Francisco and Tennessee. The 49ers have yet to step in because they are working on trying to get a deal done with incumbent quarterback Alex Smith, who can become a free agent at 2 p.m. Tuesday. If it becomes clear the 49ers aren't making progress with Smith in the next 24 hours, they may try to make a late run at Manning.

Contract talks will be interesting. Does Condon pit two equals against each other to get top dollar? Or did Peyton give him a preferred team to try and work out parameters with first?

That's the 22 million dollar question.

Still trotting out the unsourced "we rolled out the red carpet" claptrap. I didn't know Whis' house had a red carpet. I have yet to hear what this "pizazz" was. I guess when Larry Fitzgerald does NOT play for your team, having him show up to meet with Manning could be considered "pizazz." If you got it, flaunt it.

Also, wondering about why they touted their dinner with Manning in addition to the 6 hour meeting, when we also had a dinner. They say their Friday and Saturday meetings, and our Sunday meetings...it was our Saturday and Sunday meetings too, Broncland. Your NFL sourced article has no information on PM's Arizona visit, and is only about what Denver has told you. We've known all of that for awhile now. Your sources don't seem to be close to PM, because you don't know what happened at the AZ meetings (and honestly, local AZ media doesn't know much themselves).

We shall see what's the final result, but at this point I don't think any member of the media or their "NFL source" has much of a clue as to what Manning is thinking.

I have to think both teams have already agreed to the parameters of the deal Manning wants for himself. Otherwise, why visit both teams to mostly talk football? Does it make any sense that he was watching game film with Fitzgerald if he had no idea if the Cards would agree to his financial terms? Or, that teams that desperately wanted to make a pitch were shut out?

What could be discussed is how many of "Peyton's guys" each team will be willing/able to add. If that is the case, Denver does have an edge.

The really interesting aspect of this thing is that I'd be willing to bet that Manning wants it done today. Free agency starts tomorrow, and I think he may want a teammate or two of his from Indy to try and sign with his new team. The chances lessen if FA opens without him signed with a team. Just food for thought.

I think it will be a couple few more days...arg, make that all the way up until the day we gotta pay Kolb.

If Peyton does consider Az the spot right now, he has that time to let other squads get their last minute deals together. I still think he won't put that neck behind this line, but hey, at least we are still in the mix.

It just seems like to me anyone that knows anything with the Cards is eerily quiet. On the other side Denver its spouting off crap at rapid speed. Just saying.

I don't think it drags out past Wednesday. He won't want to get in the way of the teams start of free agency, either way.

this reflects Denver pre conceptions.

From their point of view; their franchise reputation speaks for itself. They dont need a dog and pony show because they are the Broncos. They can concentrate on on the field football.

The Cardinals on the other hand -- they NEED a dog and pony show to overcome their dreadful status.

Of course: totally missing in this formulation is the fact that the most coveted NFL free agent in the last several years -- one that clearly is valuing organization over "who has the most money" --- has more or less put Denver and Arizona in the same bucket. Not sure that has dawned on the Denver media yet.

...and it keeps getting debunked.

Gambo is the only one in AZ popping his mouth off about Peyton coming to AZ. While there is nothing of substance to support his statements at this time, they have not been detracted like Vic Lombardin's "95%" rant

I almost wish Peyton had a scheduled time when he was going to announce his decision. The waiting without knowing when it's going to happen is killing me.

The media is just getting me sick. I feel they want PM to join any team but the Cards. I feel if PM joins us, they will start discussions like did he make the right choice?

...and that his neck isn't fully healed and he'd be a shell of his former self. Much like they said about Warner back in 2008.

If he signs w/ Denver, the perception would be that he'd shatter all of Elway's single season records.

It's all about public perception and the fact that Adam Schefter, who used to write for the Broncos, is spearheading much of the rumors and innuendo.

If we don't get Peyton, I hope he ends up in Miami or Tennessee or someplace. Starting to really dislike everything about the Donkeys.
