That would be my guess. Plus it was pointed out that as a veteran if he is not here for the first game then his salary its not guaranteed for the season. They could bring him back next week and it would make it easier to get rid of him again later.

I agree with this but it would be nice to have a true LBer who can cover well in pass pro.

You may be correct. But they must not be sure of him or they would keep him now. Must still be looking to improve, but who else is out there?
