Now I gotta backtrack all the trash I talked about Ridder all season long, ugh.

As a backup I love it. He's experienced and young, can fill in for a game or 2 and be competent.
At least we didnt have to watch him with the franchise on his shoulders. :p

People always want more from a backup QB than is really available. People want a guy who is basically as good as a starter, but the vast majority of backup QBs are actually worse than Ridder.

Nathan Peterman is still floating around as a back up QB!

Why would we do that when tune isn’t expensive and they saw something in him they liked enough to spend a draft pick?

Because they saw a lot more of him and decided they'd trade for Desmond Ridder?
