Maybe you should call Shams.

It could be Devin changes his mind and wants out, though.
I've been assuming all year that he will want out once he fully realizes how screwed we are for the future. He'd probably be willing to stay if we really wanted it but he also wants to win. And that's not going to happen here unless we stock the cupboard by trading him and KD away but even then, it's going to take a few years to build up a competitive roster.

Shams I trust. Gerald Bourget is a protector of the organization.

Gerald Bourguet was using quotation marks, so I thought he was quoting Shams Charania?

It could be he was quoting other sources. It's unclear.

Bourget is quoting his “own sources” that Booker is never getting traded. Loose definition of “sources” of course.

Another thought, under the CBA, the Suns can likely pay Booker more than any other team when the time comes, so that could be a motivator. Also, he likes living in Arizona and traveling around the state. I think he really enjoys being a Sun, but that could change. I don't see any joy in his face anymore.

I didn't like the way the Suns dismantled the team with the new owner, so I'd like to keep a familiar face around. However, I want what is best for Booker, so I'm prepared for anything. I do enjoy watching young players develop, but what's frustrating is the Suns shouldn't be in this predicament.

I don't recall Bourguet using sources before, so we shall see. It's unlike him.

I heard an interview with Melvin Booker, who is Devin's dad and a former NBA player, where he spoke of Devin's love of Phoenix as a city being genuine. It wasn't a local interview that was sort of building Booker's brand here in the valley either. He was essentially repeating a lot of what Devin has said over the years while adding in some context as his father watching his son make a home here. It all seemed genuine and was cool to hear. I want to say this was in December, when things were rocky here for fhe team but the bottom hadn't fallen out yet. I believe it based on what I've heard from Devin over the years. It reinforced what I'd learned over the years about Devin's attachment to the city and state. Melvin seems to love it here also, FWIW.

I'll try to find it and share it but I believe Devin has earned benefit of doubt. I won't say he wants out until he says it himself.

Let's say they will listen to offers and if Devin okays a good deal for the Suns, then he can choose to go. We will stink anyway. Probably have to run with Booker and Beal as the core if we cannot get a #1 for Durant.

I mean, if he's okay with stinking/rebuild, is he then worth a max contract? I think not really.

Look Devin, you can take this deal and try to win with your new team, or you can stay here for yet another rebuild, but we're not offering you another max contract (max 40 mill).

Will he then sign as a FA elsewhere and we're left with cap space only? Thoughts?

I love Booker, but Charles Barkley was the greatest Suns player of all time even factoring in his much shorter stint.

The answer to who is the greatest Phoenix Sun always depends on what you mean by the question. I think of it as who had the greatest career with the Suns and, for me, that's Devin, just barely. And I might change my mind if this season ends up being his last one with us especially with how disappointing he's been for much of this year.

But if you're simply talking who was the best player that ever wore a Suns uniform, Devin is well down the list. I'm sure I'll forget someone but off the top of my head, for me, it would be Shaq, Connie Hawkins, Barkley, Nash, Amare, Kidd, Marion, Maurice Lucas, KJ and then either Devin or Sweet D. I ignored KD f on purpose because right now, I'm so disgusted by him, it's tough for me to consider him fairly.

I give extra points if the Suns draft the player and the years spent with the team.

Naturally this pushes up players like Steve Nash, Shawn Marion, Amare and Walter Davis. Some other players may have more star power, but I have less attachment to them. Kevin Johnson wanted to retire a Sun so that also made him special.
