He was traded to Cincy for a 4th and 5th rounder. I would have given our 4th and 5th for him. He was pretty good and, i think, the 4th overall pick. The Cards probably never considered him because he's more of a 4-3 DT. He struggled playing NG with the Jets last year. I can't believe these former 1st rounders have such little value. Williamson for a 6th,now Robertson for 4 and 5. Maybe we overestimate Fitz's trade value. I guess the big difference is Fitz has actually been very productive.Although, I think Roberston was pretty productive until last year as well.

My question is why teams will only offer low round picks in trade but will pay multiple millions to free agents.

Picks are premium because it is cheap labor and helps balance a team's payroll. When you trade for a vet, you usually get them for a lower pick than what us fans would have made because then after trading for the player you typically have to sign him to a large deal. It is sort of a double whammy.

Continually giving away picks decays the underbelly/depth/youth of a team

We are a 3-4 defense. Robertson cannot play in a 3-4 defense or he would still be with the Jets.

He was terrible and never lived up to his lofty draft status. The Jets run defense was atrocious and Vilma got eaten alive...no thanks

only when they switched to 3-4.Vilma and Robertson were both pretty good in the 4-3. He even said he wants to go to a 4-3 team which eliminated any thought of the Cards.

he also make around 10 mil if i remember correctly, the panthers talked about gettin him but he didn't wanna re-negotiate. 10 mil for him is way to high, decent player, id give a 4th an 5th for him if salary was decent!
