All of this talk today about Wadsworth and best d line guys ever for us reminds me of a piece on ESPN that I watched last week about Dexter Manley.

Only played for us for one year then went to Tampa Bay. He of course had all pro years at DE with Redskins. At Tampa Bay he received the death penalty for drug abuse and was banned forever from the NFL.

He gets out of prison on March 5 of this year and hopes to open a rehab place in D.C.

It was sad to hear of his relationship with his son....he didn't want his son to see him on drugs so he stayed in his room and gave his son money under the door.

His son and 3rd wife I think I have stayed with him....but she sounded like that if he backslides and goes back to drugs that he's on his own.

I saw that one too, very sad story.

Isn't it amazing how one of the colossal blew career on drugs guys in history, John Lucas, has completely turned HIS life around and is now helping so many others save their lives?

I guess having been there, Lucas has a special understanding that most can't have, always like to see a happy ending, as a Warrior fan I fully remember Lucas as a player and a huge drug disappointment so it's really great to hear how his life is going now.

And what became of Charles Mann? I met him at the probowl back in '90. Since then, I believe he has been spending time with Sheriff Joe and maybe got shot once or twice? Anyone know??

Walter Davis was, and still is, my all time favorite Suns player. I remember how stunned I was when he got in trouble for cocaine. The amazing thing was, he had 50+ point game the night before he went off to rehab. He got straightened out, and I think he works in the Nuggets front office.

Manley is a sad story. Another sad story is a guy who was on the Bengals. Stanley Wilson I think was his name. He was a RB. I met him at a grocery store in Phoenix where he was working as a bag boy. He told me he lived in some long term halfway house. If I remember correctly, that was his first serious suspension. Then he got reinstated. The NIGHT BEFORE the Super Bowl (the second one against the Niners), his teammates and coaches had to break down his bathroom door where they found him freebasing.

Amazing what a simple molecule can do to a human being.

Last I heard, he was a scout for the Wizards.
