.......and Byrnes sucks

just needed some damn contact on the ball......apparently, the protocol for the d-backs when the bases are juiced is to swing for the fences

You are terrible Byrnes and Melvin is an idiot. What a waste of a chance. Why in the world did Josh Byrnes sign this journeyman to a 30 million dollar contract?

Looks like it was a fantastic game by Haren. Two hits, no runs through 7 innings in Boston is great!

Eric Byrnes with his customary pop up...
Judging by his TV show, Eric Byrnes is not too bright . . . and extremely immature.

Is he ********? What about D'backs management?

For as long as he's been in a "slump", right up to his pathetic performance in the Minors and first game back, why in the world is he still uppercutting every swing? From his knees to over his head. And usually with one hand.

Everybody knows he has no skill for fundamentals. How long is management going to watch it?

Now I'll answer that rhetorical question. The Diamondbacks chose him as the successor to Gonzo as the face of the organization. And it has backfired.

I guess they'd rather see it continue than admit that it was a mistake.

What does Eric Byrnes care? He's collecting his millions. Giggling all the way to the bank.

Like I have said before, Byrnes is a journeyman, he has been on four teams in the last three years. He really fooled the Diamondbacks and is stealing $30 million from the team.

Haren was awesome. Game of the year by far.

Loved it. Very good defense too, beginning to end.

Yeah, signing Byrnes seems to have been a mistake but signing him still wasn't as dumb as signing a broken down Randy Johnson.

Signing Byrnes is a lot worse. With the signing of Byrnes, they got rid of Carlos Quentin and because they wasted $30 million dollars on Byrnes, they probably won't sign Hudson, who deserves the money much more than Eric.

Signing Randy did not have a trickle down effect like it has with Byrnes. RJ is a free agent after this year and probably won't be back. The Diamondbacks are stuck with Byrnes and his popping up, striking out for another two years.

JOSH Byrnes didn't sign Eric -- Moorad and Ken Kendricks made this deal -- they said so at the time -- and Josh Byrnes has had to make the best of it.

Haren was awesome! Loved the play on Coco's bunt, too. Good to see him stepping up. Melvin pulling him after 7 didn't cost them the game, luckilly. Once they set foot in Fenway, they looked like a different team, not beaming with a glum inferiority complex. Good to see a win, finally. :)

Where did you see that? I found this article on the signing and it says Josh engineered the signing. I like Josh and I'm glad he is here, but he was part of this signing and he needs to be blamed, along with Moorad and Kendricks if they had any part of signing Eric.

What is done is done and I hope Eric can get it going because this team needs him to hit. I did not like the signing and probably never will, but he is here and I have to support him. I just wish he would be more discipline at the plate because it drives me crazy watching him free swing at everything.

Josh Byrnes has engineered moves that have brought three new starters -- Eric Byrnes, second baseman Orlando Hudson and catcher Johnny Estrada.

If Kevin Youkilis can't play today that will be a big plus for the Diamondbacks because most likely Brandon Moss would likely start. Sean Casey is not available so they do not have too many options. A line-up without Ortiz and Youkilis is fine with me.

That article is from 2005. The headline reads: D-Backs sign Byrnes to $2.25 million deal. It has nothing to do with the 30 millions dollar extension.

Whatever people need to relax its a long season and almost EVERY guy in the majors goes through slumps. They will produce they proved they can at the beginning of the season, they just got to do it and get some confidence and get on a roll again. A sweep against the Red Sox would be a good place to start. And Byrnes in his short stint in Az. has produced how about cutting the guy a little slack, by the end of the year I am sure his numbers will be his normal averages and he will get some big hits along the way. Wow people friggin jump all over a guy coming off an injury just silly!
